Scarf-wearing question

Not too tight mind.

It was Isadora Duncan who died when her scarf got caught in the wheel btw. :)

i've heard a lot of people say it was grace kelly, but i think they're just confused with isadora duncan.

for non stop hard core scarf knotting action go here

search for scarf

click on any scarf, then click on "other views / more details", then on "how to knot"

viola!

you all obviously have inferior coats :)

no, we just like a bit of extra warmth sometimes. it's good to have a scarf keeping your neck warm and stopping any breeze getting down into yer neck. and sometimes you need a scarf when you don't neccessarily need a big old coat on, just helps to take the edge off. although with the weather at the moment, i can't see me needing one for a while :grumbles:

hang on a minute. what about my personal favourite 'the wrap around then tie in front' knot, its really only good with those really long scarves

Yes there is.

You need to double it and then tuck the ends through the loop.

yes. 'European Style'.

(as opposed to British style which is how your grandmother would put a scarf on you when you were two. and looks shit)

My mum told me about that when I was a kid and it's always haunted me for some reason. We went to see her grave in Paris. I don't think it mentions the scarf on the gravestone :)

I'm therefore always very careful with scarf ends!

Two ways to wear the average scarf:

1) wrapped once round the neck, so both ends fall down on either side of the neck (a la Tom Baker)

2) folded in half, then ends tucked into the loop.

For preference, (1) with a long scarf and (2) with a short scarf.

They dont usually put the details of how someone died on the gravestone do they?? :D

Ace hair by the way and fanx for the offline fave. :)

looped once round the neck with the ends hanging down so that the Rovers badges are clearly visible.

Only to be worn once the weather turns cold, people who wear them to games in the summer are nobs.

At last I can wear a scarf without fear of embarrassment or ridicule. :)

If only it wearn't 25 C and sunny outside. :(

this is the scarf of the season and how to wear it

I want to set fire to scarves that people wear like that. It is the epitome of "preppy" and really riles me for no good reason

I used to feel similarly, but I think it's gone more mainstream these days and I'm more sanguine about it now :)

I love scarves.

The scarf of the season is insufficiently warm for real winter, I think...

An alternative (though, it must be said that this is the scarf of LAST season and it is also an example of how to wear it somewhat sloppily over a bulky sweater.

haha. the guy in that photo looks a fanny.

i remember first wearing one of those scarves around 1981. it was all a bit post-punk and ACR/medium medium-y. combined with long trenchcoat, baggy suit trousers, monkey boots (what ever happened to them??) and hitler youth haircut.

twelve year olds knew how to dress back then. :D

Wrong college right principle :o

but they didnt have yours on a snowman :(

i'd recommend threading some wire down one long edge of your scarf, then you can permanently position it to look like it's billowing behind you as you ride your bicycle through the cobbled streets with the wicker basket full of books :D
