Saxondale.

Liza Tarbuck was good tonight, in a kind of cringey kind of way with all that innuendo... :D

The tacky banter between them was very funny. I liked the exchange in the pub restaurant:

"Can we, er, stop the innuendo now?"

"Ok."

'So, er, how's your beef wellington?"

The car park exchange tickeld me.

" i was a loose cannon in my day, shoved a banger through a letter box, once coxed a dog into a library and set fire to the odd matress...........still do from time to time;) "

:D

I liked it, the series really grew on me. Saxondale stands in the same relationship to Partridge as Andy Millman (Ricky Gervais in Extras) stands to David Brent: a mellower, more decent, more human version of the original monster.

Oh yeah, I liked the line about Genesis as well – "they were so much better when they got rid of Peter Gabriel" – and the ensuing rendition of Invisible Touch :D

My face hurt from laughing :D

That was funny. But he coaxed the dog, they weren't in a rowing race!

I liked Saxondale, it was the same thing he has done before but with a different costume. Still made me laugh, but I don't think his character was as well rehearsed as his older stuff, such as Alan and Pauline Calf. Far better than anything that fat northern twat does, Peter 'i am a one trick cunt' Kay

He's exactly like Partridge. The humour is exactly the same. :p
No it's not. Partridge is an obnoxious mysogynist, in this the character is much warmer and is generally a decent bloke who is just a bit overwelmed by the way his life turned out every now and then. Also, did you not see the cameo of the drugged up teenager played by Coogan?

I loved this series. There were similarities to Partridge but this character was deeper and more sympathetic. The relationship with his partner was good too, the final scene in the 'stang was quite touching!

I must admit I found Saxondale himself quite endearing.

The earnest determination, proudly rural image, complete with Hollis-like musical outlook. Splendid.

Bumping this thread cos I watched a few episodes on saturday and found it funny :)

You are still thinking 'I'm Alan Partridge' a bit but some of it was absolute quality.

The bit with the make-up, the speech he gives to the shop owners of the shopping centre and his general 'anger issue ' make it very funny :D And of course his new assistant the stroppy gormless teenager is brilliant!!
