Sautee Potatoes

Surely it's easier to roast potatoes without parboiling them. No water to boil, no extra pan to wash up, just leave them in the oven till they're done.
thats what i thought also but apparently i was over-ruled  :D

I chopped them (with skins) par boiled for 10 minutes, then fried with some sunflower oil for 25 minutes.
they were sexy ;)

they'll actually be more healthy if you don't "par-boil"....the boiling takes some of the vitamins out of 'em

It's the best use for value bacon or bacon misshapes.

Put some grated mature cheddar on top for even more heart attack material.

I do this with left over bacon. With out chese but I add to the bacon. Onion, garlic, kidney beans, green chilly, half a green pepper and the cubes of potato.

But the parboiling means they soak up less fat.

Surely everyone knows the best roast potatoes are parboiled, shaken in the pan and then put into piping hot goose fat?

Thankfully I only have a roast dinner about four times a year :D

Dont peel,cube up pots
Chuck in oven ,liberally lashed with oil, garlic, salt and pepper (thyme or rosemary if around) 40 mins on medium high heat

Dont quite know if its classical sauteed potatoes but tastes much the same and takes less than 5mins preparation time-just done some now :D

That's not sauteed at all - that's roast!

I always refer to this thread when doing sautee potatoes, cos there's so many good ideas on it.

I like to parboil cubes of potatoes, then lightly coat in a mixture of olive oil, chilli powder, paprika and a little cumin before sauteeing or roasting.
Want to do this but don't have any paprika or chilli powder. I do have some curry powder and am hoping that will work.

I made sauté potatoes for my breakfast this morning, from the left over potatoes from the Bring Your Own Dish thing. The potatoes were dressed in vinaigrette honey sauce, and had been cooked with rosemary. I sautéed them in butter and they were delish. I might have them for my supper, too :D

Nicely timed bump, I tend to go through phases with potatoes and I've been a bit mad lately on new potatoes boiled and lightly crushed with some garlic and herb butter which is yum... but I did fancy sauteed the other day, started out making them but was cooking something involving various pans and didn't have enough hob space so roasted them instead which was of course lovely, but I must do some sauteed soon!

I usually just chuck in a couple extra when i make baked potatoes. Leftovers get made into sautees for breakfast over the next day or two.

Cut 'em up (not too small) and shallow fry in a bit of oil.

It worked (sort of) They cooked well, but most of the coating mixture fell off the potatoes and ended up in the pan.
