That sounds brilliant .

I voted for the 3rd option cos I like both :p

(though tbh it would be cheese if I had to choose)

Cheese every time. It's so great that with cheese there are yer old favourites (Colliers cheddar, Old Amsterdam, Manchego) but there are always new discoveries to be made in the World of Cheese. A couple of days ago I experienced for the first time Vacherin (French, soft, bit like a camembert) - which turns to near-fondue at room temperature! Just dunk yer bread in and there you go.

Cheese forever.

Ta for this - I shall make it for my ma's tea this evenin' :D

Right then.
Sausages!

Or maybe cheese.

cheese will always win! cheese, when added to anything, will improve it. you cant have sausage cake can you?

flawed poll:p

there's more to talk about with cheese. more varieties. pasteurised or not. blue, hard. soft

whereas a sausage is pretty much a sausage. ok, so you get crap ones full of rusk, pigs ears and hoof  and you get nice ones full of pork and herbs and stuff. but there's less to say about a sausage

i voted for cheese

I beg to differ

Sausages:

hard?
soft?
dried?
smoked?
unsmoked?
real skins or fake skins?
to prick, or not to prick?
to roast, fry, grill, barbeque, or casserole?
supermarket or butchers? (this is a rhetorical question)
tinned????? with beans??? you DIRTY BASTARDS

oo

ahem

Don't know where THAT came from

Where is the option for cake? :(

Oh, now I see - it went from a 'which food' thread to just 'cheese and sausages' in the click of a mouse.  :p

salami, kielbasa, chorizo, merenguez, Cumberland...

What's merenguez - a cross between a sausage and a meringue? Or maybe some kind of Spanish dance? :p

Nah, it's a Brazilian sausage. One that tends to be viciously cooked to death by policemen, who mistake it for a middle eastern terrorist. Mr Merguez always escapes.

;)

Tough poll btw. Sausages - in all their guises - may just have the edge for me in cooking. Nowt like a chorizo for flavouring a dish for example. But you can beat the simplicity of great bread and a slab of cheese. Hmmm.....
