I think we're spared them up here, they're a special punishment reserved for the South.

I never saw one till I went to live down there, gave me a right shock, I tell you. Firstly that they had no gravy, then no barm cakes, then they had those bloody things  Previously I had thought a saveloy was a small boat.

I just got my lunch from the local chippy for the first time in ages and decided to get a sausage with it. I've never had a saveloy so I thought I'd give one a go. In the interests of science though I also brought a sausage in batter too so I could compare and contrast (and coz I'm a greedy bastard). I have to say the saveloy was rank! The sausage in batter was by no means great but the saveloy was just blugh!

So, which sausages do you buy from a chippy?
why isn't this a publick poll?

Ohh - big bump.

I have a new preference now for sothern fried chicken from fish and chip shops instead of bangers.

No! Fish and Chip shops should sell just that...oh and sundries like battered sausages, saveloys, maybe a pie or two...but not fried chicken! They should be sold by...fried chicken shops. Which should just sell fried chicken and chips and maybe some sweetcorn!

Chester is very wrong here.

My local chippie (which is ace, btw) also sells fried chicken. I say 'sells', he actually cooks a couple of bits and then they sit there until they are dried out and then he chucks them. Or at least that's what it looks like happens.

Don't get savaloys in Manchester chippies , nor rock salmon or cod roe. I would go for the savaloy, chips and a pickled onion
