SATS tests - parents' boycott?

Unbelievable isn't it? :(

The teachers put so much pressure on the kids, it's outrageous really.

I just made sure that mine knew exactly what the tests were for and that they were checking that the silly old teachers were doing their jobs properly. Thankfully they weren't at all stressed and the year 2 ones were really low key in any case. I'm not sure that my youngest son even knew he was being tested.

Moomoo, SATS are the governments idea, not the teachers. Most don't like them at all.

But hey, lets blame them anyway!

i remember being very when i was in year 6 at school and missing a day or twos exams
the school were furious- phoning my mum up demanding i come in, even though i was too ill

fuckers

clearly they're doing it for themselves rather than for the children

as my secondary school headmaster used to say 'you dont make a pig any fatter by weighing it'

You spend more time with her than her teachers do. AND they've probably got another 30 kids to worry about. Why didn't YOU pick it up???

why didnt i???
Because she could read, to me , at home, where she wasnt under pressure.....anything else I flagged up - and I had been, for quite some time) was endlessly denied as me being a 'fussy parent' until i had proof and you do need documented proof or schools can, do and WILL ingore the problem as it coats them money if the LEA wont input money and specialist resources for the child

believe me, after the endless shit ( inc a court case which cost me thousands) I fought to get my daughter the help she needs( a placement in a special school) you dont ever want to start going down that road with me... most people here know EXACTLY what Ive been through, hell Ive recieved thousands of tesco vouchers off wonderful urbs for my daughter's specialist school recently...

You need to shut the fuck up until you know what the hell you are talking about, trying to lay any more guilt on me than other people ( mainly the LEA) have tried isnt going to work.

And for the record I teach my other 2 at home- because school was failing them while I fight ( again) through the Tribunal/court system to get my son the same schooling my daughter has- which he also desperately needs.

Shit, I can't believe you've got to go through all that again. Hopefully it will be a bit easier this time as you know the system. :)

Where am I blaming the teachers? And I'm well aware it's the governments idea.

My point was that I made it clear to my kids that it was the teachers being tested, not the children. The 'silly old teachers' bit would have made my kids smile and emphasised that this was not an important issue. :)

I was thinking that a good publicity stunt for any organisation would be to take the kids out of school that day and take them on an educational trip somewhere photogenic. Good photo opportunity and media relations all in one.

you could take them to a lab where they test animals on the way and photograph them outside for some real shock value ( Im not suggesting the kids get taken inside obviously);)

My 7 year old had SATs recently and never evn knew it. It's all down to the school, how they use the information and how they deliver the work. My sons school is top (except for their strange decision to invite David Guest to open the eco project:hmm:)
