Satnav idiot who nearly drove over a cliff convicted of careless driving

i use one mainly as mine will warn me of traffic jams and provide an alternative route if there is a quicker way.

but i will nearly always look at a map as I like to know where I am going and looking at a map helps me position the place and the route in my head. also that way if the sat nav suggests something I am not happy with I can just ignore it

the comparison is the attitude to technology of those who don't (yet) use it
Never will. I can get myself across mountainsides in mist and navigate in coastal waters without GPS. Not that everyone should be able to do that, but jeez, these are roads - someone has laid them down nice and neatly and they go where you want to go. Just add map and brain and spend 5 minutes before you start your journey. There should be some basic navigation taught in schools, combined with geography/astronomy
