Butcher Boy, the group on my little label, are playing in Brixton on Saturday. They're a wonderful band, for fans of Tindersticks, Love, Felt, and The Smiths. Please come along if you can!

There's two pairs of tickets for this up for grabs for Urbanites. First people to PM get them.

The band's recent single, "Carve A Pattern", was Record Of The Week on the Radcliffe and Maconie show on Radio 2. You can download the song here for free if you fancy taking a listen - http://www.box.net/shared/f5qavojved

HDIF Presents
Butcher Boy, plus The Empty Set
Saturday March 14th
Jamm, 261 Brixton Road, London, SW2, 7.30pm-10pm, £6

Butcher Boy
The first London show for 18 months for Butcher Boy, the eight piece orchestral indie pop group from Glasgow. Since their last visit, the band's song "I Know Who You Could Be" was featured in the CBS sci-fi show "Moonlight", and they recorded their second album, "React Or Die", which is out in the UK in April. “Inspired by monochrome movies and bleak winters, these cello-and-viola-flecked songs transcend their Smiths, Tindersticks and Felt influences. Regret, giro-funded couplets, sensual ambiguity – it’s all here, resurrecting a great British genre” - Uncut.

The Empty Set
A brand new duo from London and Manchester comprising of a singing acoustic guitar player and a violinist, who create sumptuous, poetic indie folk songs that bristle with discontent. For fans of The Mountain Goats, Ballboy, and early B&S.
