Sarah Palin named as McCain's VP

Some right wingers already moaning that with 5 kids inc.a Downs Syndrome young child, she should be at home, not criss-crossing the US making stump speeches.

Bad mommy!

screw that! she's got tons of ca$h for nannies and day care and all that shit. is her husband a stay-at-home dad?

who cares, if she's good looking she's got my vote :D :p

I think after the initial hype of her being chosen McCain is going to sink like a stone, I saw her acceptance speech on the beeb website earlier. Whilst it was okay it definitely won't be good enough against a serious challenge from the Democrats at a debate. Was Condeleeza Rice not even considered? I personally can't stand her but she would have been a much better choice than Palin, she does have the experience in foreign policy, albeit as part of the Bush administration.

wha... so how did you get back in, did anyone ever get stopped from coming back for looking mexican despite being a citizen?:eek:

I've been to Mexico three times and never had anything other than a polite wave through. I brought a certified copy of my birth certificate just in case.

I just about pissed myself when Obama stated that she had no experience of foreign policy. A bit like himself in other words. :D

She wouldn't go well with a maverick like McCain, imo. She's not just following orders with Bush. She believes in what she's doing. McCain is not a conservative of the Rice type.

not only that but ms. rice's choices in footwear is quite atrocious...:D

and don't get me started with that gap in her teeth

hmm, spose its the same as the schengen agreement over here - you can go through the EU without border controlls except for UK and Ireland, but I would have assumed that Mexicans and Canadians needed passports

incidentally, S Palin is one letter off of Stalin. She is obviously a God-hating Bolshevik, just as Obama is clearly a Muslim and a terrorist:eek:

Reminds me of the front cover of the current private eye

heh heh heh

He gets my vote, all those people he saved in the die hard films, gotta be him over Obama everyday, what's he ever done;)

John McCain has picked a former beauty contest winner as his vice president if the republicans win.
anti abortionist, pro death penalty, pro guns...i know it's predictable. and i don't care if she's a woman....*shudder* :hmm:

all i know is that i'd sleep with her and therefore she gets me vote...can't say that about any of the previous female candidates for anything :D :p

John McCain seems almost rational, no doubt the republican party insisted on balancing that out with a big ole' chunk of foaming-at-the-mouth christian right nutcase

A blatant attempt to swing a few voters who were only going to vote for Hillary because she's a woman as well. No matter how hard they crash those cymbals together, the colour and shape of the dancing monkeys on those podiums obviously makes all the difference in a country where 95% of the people are each other's cousins and roadkill n' cheese is the national dish*

*probably.

Look on the bright side, at least it isn't Romney.

hey he graduated from Cranbrook high school which was the nemesis of my high school, Detroit Country Day. Both are exclusive english-style private schools in this area....

That's not saying much :D

Rice isn't a potential presidential candidate anyway; she'd not do well in the position and I very much doubt she would want it at all.

I think if she looked like this she'd be a contender.

Anyway you can screw up a first term as president and get reelected even. :D

Rice has just never struck me as somebody who would even want to be president. She's one of the neocon lot who are very happy thank you to be in positions slightly behind the front line, and would prefer to stay there.

From what I've read, this isn't going to be that popular with the Republican rank and file. McCain's obviously going for the uncommitted voters and taking his base for granted.

I wonder what Peebs would make of this.

i love the way she wears her hair up and has spectacles on to be taken more seriously, there probably aren't even any lenses in the frames :D

You know, I've heard conservatives talk about women voting for candidates purely on the basis of their looks as a reason for denying them the vote. Perhaps we should take the vote away from men who vote with their balls. :p

I am confused by this choice.

It does not seem that it will tempt the disgruntled Hilary Clinton voters across, in fact as she is pro life it may reject rather than entice.

Still, perhaps it does cement that America is changing.

I mean there will either be a black African American as president or there will be a woman Vice President. Both or either of which are significant.
