Sandwiches

pesto or tapenade is good in sandwiches.

With cheese - goat, cheddar, any hard cheese really. Or soft cheese.

or ham or prawns
or just with cucumber and tomato

I like to take the BLT up a notch by adding salad cream and avocado, I call it a BLAST.

A couple of other favourites include a simple houmous with some thinly sliced red peppers (or grated carrot works well too), and crabstick and avocado sandwiches are surprisingly tasty, sometimes I bung a few strips of toasted nori in there too, it's like a california roll sandwich :)

I'm going to use all of these ideas, they'll keep me in interesting packed lunches for a year.

Shrimp and brie with a pesto mayo.

Cheddar and tomato.

roast chicken, cranberry sauce and crisps.

peppered salami and German butter cheese.

peanut butter and bacon.

After being on the stealing chips thread and the steak thread, the last thing I want is a bloody sandwich. :o

Ok. Bacon and cheese. :)

I'm going to have bacon sandwiches for tea tonight. I found a packet at the back of the freezer. God only knows how long it has been there (I certainly don't remember bringing any over in the last year!) but what the fuck.

You only live once, eh?

Bacon, red sauce, white bread.

There is only a few sandwiches that should be eaten. Crisp sandwich, bacon sandwich, sausage sandwich, cottage cheese and marmite sandwich and ham sandwich

, cottage cheese and marmite sandwich

surely you jest :D

i would also recommend the Philly Cheese Steak - thin sliced roast beef with chopped onions, green peppers, provolone cheese in a long bun. The whole thing dipped in hot au jus for a few seconds to make it nice and juicy...:)

That is not a Philly Cheeze Steak - that is something served elsewhere under that name.

  • Foot-long soft white torpedo roll
  • Fried strip steak
  • Maybe the memory of an onion
  • Cheeze Whiz
  • The end

I'd agree, but a fried egg would liven up any of those sarnies. A textbook egg, yolk semi-ruuny, white hard and slightly crispy around the edges.

All this talk of humous and peppers is tomfoolery! a sandwhich should be hearty and plain. I'm sure the earl of sandwhich is spinning in his grave

When I was a broke gap year traveller I practically lived on cheddar cheese and sweet chilli sauce sandwiches, maybe with a bit of salami if I was feeling flush. Never worked as well without the plastic white bread though.

Inspired by my own thread, my sandwich today is a bit special - smoked chicken with baby leaves, tarragon mustard, and salami on tomato and black pepper bread. I've also got some homemade leek potato and bacon soup. They can shove their canteen up their arse - I iz the gourmet. :) I iz also HUNGRY!:D

Desperate times and too much freetime .....a toast sandwich. Not a sandwich toasted, not a filling in two slices of toast but a slice of toast between two slices of bread...it is a thing, apparently.

I can see how that could work.

:hmm:

However. Have you got other food in? :)

How would it work. A slice of brown toast between two slices of white bread or reversed. The roast served hot or cold. Presumably lots of butter involved.

I have food in, though I'm bored and getting bored with food.
there is also a note about a baked bean sandwich. Cold beans, in bread, not even toasted!
