Samantha Morton - The Unloved

I've never been in care but I think it gave me a good insight into what it's like: lonely, slow, confusing, abusive - sometimes a little bit of fun is had, but mostly what i got from her was a feeling of quiet desperation, abandonment and neglect.

Everyone she turned to just let her down :(

The length of it was good IMO, just imagine how long the hours must be for a child who's constantly waiting.

yes, it could be why they made it like that maybe..i dunno, at the time it struck me, because of it's slow pace, that we're so used to seeing huge drama, big explosions, big sentimentality, big abuse, big violence - not the drip drip drip of misery. i thought it was effective for this reason.

I thought it was good.

Not an easy watch by any means but it was as realistic a representation as I've seen.

Lauren was excellent, could imagine many of the girls I've worked with in the scene with the store detective.

I thought it was good, too, and poignant.

For me, what it showed was how the care workers could be as abusive as the parents - what the care home worker was doing to Lauren was just as awful as what Lucy's dad did to her..........but in a different way.

Thought it was utterly enthralling: believable characters and situations, superb handling of the actors for a first timer, and the photography was gorgeous. Sure it was slow moving, but there's nothing wrong with that if the characters draw you in.

Totally agree - I thought it was wonderful

Was in tears a couple of times too

I've still yet to watch it (it's recorded on the freeview box) and read the thread with increasing dismay but have been encouraged by the last few posts.
