salads.

Usually, yes, though they generally have onions and other things in them. It's not that I don't like those things cold, it's that I like my greens uncomplicated by other flavours.

But when I make green salads I try use as many different greens as I have available-- that can be as few as five or six domestic ones this time of year; or as many as twenty, or even more, in summer when there are a lot of wild ones to be forraged and the garden's pumping them out as well.

Personally like a really simple dressing; just good balsamic, olive oil and a bit of garlic... One of the problems with salad is that all the ingredients need to be high quality, which isn't easy (or cheap) to do here.

I love salad.
Laid on a bed of lamb and pitta with slivers of potato lightly fried in oil on the side and drizzled in chilli sauce :)

Healthy Nom!

I just noticed the tags on this thread  :D

I agree. If you're eating raw veg, it's better to get better quality/organic produce, which tend to have more flavour.

Warm blue cheese dressing!

Some Stilton (couple of ounces)
Some creme fraiche (small tub)
2 cloves garlic
splash of calvados.

Melt the cheese in a pan (on a low heat), with the garlic (bruised with the side of a knife, but still in one piece) and the calvados.

When the cheese is melted, add the creme fraiche. Stir while the creme fraiche warms through.

Pour it over a salad of:

mixed leaves, chopped pear or apples, and other additions of your choice. Top with lightly toasted walnuts.

Yum.
