Sailor Jerry

Oh christ :(

You'll have your own chairs near to the fruit machine in no time, next to Fat Frank and his mate Tony the Stinkpiss. Regular as clockwork, with Tuesday curry nights the highlight. It's a slippery slope.

That's an insane price mind. I was splashing out £3.40 a fucking pissy pint down the Hootahob yesterday and to be honest the clientele wasn't that much younger or discerning than the average Spoons. 8 shots of rum and mixers for a tenner? I'm tempted myself.

I'm particularly fond of La Mauny.

Hi el jefe, have you sample 8 bells, golden glow ,or windjammer? Beer in small tot glass with rum is called swamp water .

Big bump. I have just started to drink rum. I bought one of those mixed Morgans rum & coke the other week. It was fate I think as I was aiming for 3 Pimms for a fiver but they only had 2 and the Morgans was sat next to it. I instantly returned for a 70cl bottle and my friend and I got happliy drunk.

I had another lovely bottle at the weekend and recalled this thread. I see that Asda are doing Morgans for £15 a litre which I shall prob buy for WOMAD before trying out some of the suggestions on here. Man it really is a lush drink.

:)

Was just gonna say, I assumed Sailor Jerry was shit because a) spoons sell it, and b) we sell it for £1.29 single and £2.29 double :D

i was expecting a tattoo thread...

i'm no rum expert but this is really nice :) (actually the pattern on that box would make a lush tattoo...)

Yes, Sailor Jerry's is much nicer than Morgan's, IMO. Bearing in mind that you got me onto spiced rum at Glade last year, I can't claim to be an expert, but I like it more.

edit: oh, I am rather late to this one. must read dates. Having said that, I drank some amazing rum over the weekend but I can't remember what any of it was called as I was too drunk  otherwise I would have something to recommend.

Having been a bit skint of late, I've developed a bit of a taste for good old fashioned Lamb's Navy. I doubt I'd like it neat but it's good with a drop of Coke. I heard they were targetting your trendier drinker with a spiced version, too, but I've not seen it on the shelves as yet.

i don't mind sailor jerry but it's not my favourite rum by a long shot. it smells like some sort of sickly sweet ice cream to me. give me some 7 year old havana club instead, please.

I would like to say that (a) having seen this thread recently and (b) realising that I had drunk all my rum, I bought a bottle of Sailor Jerry recently.

Squite nice. Fairly smooth, as rum goes I suppose, not too sweet. I had some in a cocktail whose name I can't remember, made up of rum, beer and lime - worked pretty well. For what that's worth which isn't a lot I suppose. I mean, what can I say? It's spiced rum and it's quite nice and seems decent for the money and I may well buy it again though I don't drink a lot of rum. What more do you want? Blood? I hate you all.

Just finished my bottle of 15 year old El Dorado, might have to try that XM next, or just go down to Jerry's and get excited in the shop.

Got a bottle of Morgan's Spiced today on the back of this thread. Very nice. :)

Another convert..:) I just bought a litre bottle for £14 in Asda. It was £15 last week. It is now 39p cheaper than the 70cl which sits next to it on the shelf.
