Sailor Jerry

Their site is a bit shit... it says this on another page:

"A fantastic premium rum with a captivating aroma of sweet molasses, vanilla, honey and spices and a remarkably long and flavour-packed finish"

I did mean the £25-£30 bottle I'd try and blag from work, not the £650 one :D

You seen the customer reviews: http://www.specialitydrinks.com/ProductDetail.aspx?p=4486 :D

They're great those customer reviews. Spot the agitated purists as people jape about £1000 bottles of rum:

Dammit. I'm heading down to Old Compton Street and buying some rum this evening. Was going to be good tonight.

Well thanks to the kindness of Miss Tanky, I spent a large part of Glastonbury sipping from a hipflask of SJ and beaming with happiness. It really is the smoothest, loveliest spirit ever. Just gorgeous - everyone who tried some sipped cautiously, awaiting the harsh bit which follows the initial glow, but it just doesn't happen.

I think I've found 'my drink' :)

New Favourite Rum...

been to a bar near the Roundhouse a couple of times now, Cottons - I'm sure tarannau will diss it, but lovely staff, Sugar Minott on the sound system, the food looks great, and about 100 types of rum.

They'll also make recommendations, and I have a new favourite:

RUM_GRE2.jpg

fucking lush, smooth and spicy and a hint of vanilla.

Don't know how I missed this thread, but rum's my tipple so going to try a couple of those mentioned I haven't had before. I work round the corner from Gerrys too, probably the widest selection in the UK: rum

Colleague just got back from Grenada and brought me a bottle of Black Jack 75% white rum. Will be trying that over the weekend. The £2.20 price tag suggests it's not going to be quite up there with the best.

Nah, Cottons is OK. Used to be one of my corporate lunch spots when I worked in Camden. Spent a very pleasant few nights in there very heavily Zombied. It's good that they're getting a boost after the opening of the Roundhouse.

Food ain't terrible either. Bit anglicised and cleaned up, but likeable enough - better value elsewhere, but a good balance really. Better than nearby's overhyped Mango Room by a long straw.

That Green Island's alright iirc, but it's been a long time since I had some. It's available from the whopping http://www.specialitydrinks.com/P-7147.aspx Speciality drinks site too.

Quick bump to this thread because it now turns out that Wetherspoons are now offering Sailor Jerry + mixer for £1.25 or something silly.

Not sure what that says about Jefe or the demand for Sailor Jerry, but it's a little bit of a bargain
