Sad cat

have you heard of the TTouch - a form of animal massage? there's a website - can't do links sorry.

it always makes me feel better - that i'm doing something for my cats when they're ill or out of sorts and they seem to like it

i bought a book for the technique - not sure if you'd be able to see it on the www. you basically make circles all over their body (theory is that it calms the CNS down)

glad your cats feeling better

He is a GORGEOUS boy - hope the tail sorts itself out soon.

I want to put Mousch the shitting kitten on Facebook!

With any luck they'll shave it, and you will be able to witness the wonder that is stripes growing back in. :D

I think they only amputate when the tail is extremely mangleds, so he might get away with it. (((Malcolm)))

He's a stupid scrapping twat, that's how he is

Took him to the vet, with much wailing and gnashing of teeth, and she reveals a small but obviously sore puncture mark halfway up his tail. Clearly he has been in a fight with another cat, and lost. She gave him some painkillers and a week's worth of antibiotics, which we will have to force down his throat somehow. *readies catproof gloves* He's at home now, feeling sorry for himself no doubt, while I am at back at work.

Still, I'm very glad it wasn't something more serious. It's amazing that such a relatively minor wound could have that effect on his tail though. God knows which cat he had a run-in with, he knows and is known to all the ones in our terrace; I think he might have strayed over to the next block of houses and encountered a feline which isn't a complete weedy pigeon like himself.

*relief*

It's weird watching Siamese hair grow back too as you see it changing colour. Also, cos all her upper leg area has been shaved, there's hair left on her lower leg and it looks like she has a little Ugg boot :)

Yes, a cricketer called Malcolm Marshall apparently.

(My ex chose it, in case you're wondering :D)

Funny, I really hated the idea of it before we got him, but it does suit him remarkably well, and everyone seems to think it's a hilarious name for a cat. Every time I mention him to my nan, she goes off into Catherine Tate Nan-style gusts of laughter

My friend Toby (you may know him, he runs the Bleep43 parties) has a new kitten called Hindenburg! He's into his modern history you see - he nearly called it Rommel!

Cat bites are not minor wounds, though. They are foul and can be venemous - something in the spit? or is it that cats bring up stomach juice when they bite in a fight?

Anyway, the playful nips they give, or fierce warning bites they give to us humans are nothing like the brutal fight bites they give each other. The bite wound forms a painful pus-filled abcess. Added to this, the bitten cat has often lost the fight, so has all the emotional wounds to deal with too.

A cat bitten on the tail was probabaly fleeing the scene. A cat bitten at the head end was still engaged in battle.

Glad to know he's on the mend, though.

Hoggy is named after Matthew Hoggard, the England cricketer :D

Glad Malcolm is okay :)

Oh, he definitely lost - he was hiding under a bush like a total wimp when I went out to look for him yesterday. He's a big beast, but not a natural fighter by any means - he usually runs away from other cats, and will only fight if backed into a corner. I think in the past he's been lucky and won those fights due to sheer bulk/franticness. Whoever he tangled with this time was obviously a professional.

It was probably Superape's cat :D

Hooray! The tail is now fully functional and waving in people's faces again :)

Hoorah for some good news!!

Whenever our Dear Old Fella had a tail injury and it went all droopy, we felt sad, like he had stopped waving to us. We were always very pleased to see his tail up and alert again.
