Ryanair to charge for using the toilet on planes

Indeed, all trains have toilets but few of them actually work - last train I was on, they were all out of action except the one right at the end so there was a constant stream of punters dribbling through first class - unacceptable.
Yes. I really believe you, even if my own experiences on trains never, ever seem to chime with your exceptionally unfortunate circumstances.

I've got no problems with Ryanair charging for everything, thats what makes them so cheap; more concerned with how they treat their employees.

We decided to do the ferry route one year to go to Ireland. Took 21 hours instead of the 16 it should have taken. I vowed never to go that way again.

It takes about 9 or 10 hours to get to Dublin by train/ferry (from London). £26 each way last time I went. You don't have to pay to use the toilets either.

I'm pretty sure that commuter trains don't have toilets on them.

Some do, and even those that don't generally stop frequently so if nature makes an urgent call you could always jump off at the next station. Hardly the same as being on a flight for a couple of hours is it?

Unlike Ryanair which is known for its punctuality.

Anyway it's all part of the fun. One time my ferry back was cancelled because of storms. A good excuse for an extra day off work.

I can't afford the extra time off work. If I'm taking b/f over, I normally have to take a Friday and Monday off so that's two days' lost wages.

Have only ever had one major delay with Ryanair and that was because of bad weather in the UK

((((people)))) :(

Innit. They're the only carrier to fly directly from London to Brindisi (where the inlaws live) and in so many ways, flying with them is a horrible, HORRIBLE experience. On one of the few plus sides, they're too stingy to pay for delays so you usually take off and arrive on time unless there are exceptional circs.

The trains I take twice a day (SWT) definitely don't have toilets. Not that I want to compare it with a flight or anything.

That cheapness is partly mythological, once fees and "taxes", plus baggage costs (thirty nicker a case) and so on are included. Oh, and the amazing costs they manage to include for using a credit card - which they charge you twice for on a return ticket even though you're making just the one transaction.

Then there's the late schedule changes, which then fuck up the tickets you've bought for trains and coaches from the airport.

And nothing, nothing makes up for the way they cynically and openly treat you like shit: like if you're stuck on the runway for hours because they're late, and they won't even let you have a drink of water.

You know the Goodfellas routine, "fuck you, pay me"? That's Ryanair.

But Zaragoza airport is an hour and a quarter away and the next closest is five hours. So fuck me, I pay them.

I've never paid baggage costs as I only take carry-on. Yes, I agree their deals are shite when a 1p flight comes to £30, but you can't really complain about the "NO TAX" flights.

The debit card fee is fucking outrageous though :mad:

If Ryannair is offering me the best deal by more than a few quid once trains to airports, wee fees and the like have been factored in then I'll choose them.

*shrugs*

Hard to avoid it if you're going for more than three or four days!

Not sure what you mean.

They do have this aspect of deliberately finding more and more ways to say "fuck you". I mean if they needed to charge for toilets why not start doing that ten years ago? You just get this impression of somebody sitting around cackling "how can we fuck them next?"

Oh yeah. The one time I complained - no reply.

I'm not sure anyone's seen this either

Having spent years trying to price out competitors, Mr O'Leary said that he was trying to price luggage out of air travel. He said that he would increase baggage fees on Ryanair flights until the “absolute minimum” number of passengers decided to check in bags.

Ryanair, Europe's biggest airline, has become infamous over its £10 each-way fees for checking in bags.

This year it has increased the anger of heavy packers by introducing a £30 fee for passengers who take on a carrier bag of duty-free goods or a small handbag as well as their 10kg (22lb) of hand luggage

Which probably explains the confusion last time I was in Ireland when they were telling people at the departure gate waiting to board that they were only allowed ONE bag. Cue mass confusion with people wondering whether that meant duty free :D

Mr O'Leary, asked yesterday whether Ryanair would reduce the baggage fee after the closure of check-in desks, said: “No. We will be putting it up - £10 to the next rounded figure. I assume we will go for £20 or £30.

“And we'll keep increasing it until we get to the absolute minimum [of passengers bringing hold baggage], probably 20per cent or 25per cent.”

In his opinion, 10kg of luggage is easily sufficient for a two-week holiday. Consumer groups said many that many passengers would beg to differ, however, and would take their bulging suitcases elsewhere.

True enough.... IF you're going somewhere hot, but not if you've packed loads of jumpers/woollens etc. to go somewhere cold

I wonder how long until there are free water coolers at every check in desks along with coca-cola style ads showing people drinking water and looking healthy and satisfied.

This, along with the £10 debit card fee levied on "free" flights, shows how stupid Ryanair thinks its customers are.

When I go to Cornwall I prefer taking the train but the sleeper service costs £150 return, so unless I'm able to spend two days travelling, I sometimes have to bite the bullet and fly Ryanair. Which I feel bad about.

I would never fly Ryanair again though. Absolute fuckers. And it's amazing how many people I know who have a similar experience and the same attitude.

What I find amazing is the number of people who've had a bad experience with Ryanair and still use the bastards.

Anyone who's flown more than a couple of times must know what they're about so really have no cause to complain, imo. As you say, Easyjet manage to do low-cost and still retain a semblance of customer service.

These cunts are rank!

I reckon people use them because they want to experience the depths of service. There used to be a Chinese restaurant in Soho called Wan-Kei at which you'd get famously rude service, so rude in fat that it became a joke and something of a USP for the place.

The difference was that the food was pretty good at Wan-Kei.

Is Wan-Kei shut? I went there. TBH I wouldn't have known any different if I had I not been told it was supposedly especially rude.

Its a nasty business model - take all the business away from other airlines by being the cheapest carrier to an airport, then once all your competition is gone, start charging your customers for everything. Your customers don't really have a choice by then.
