Ryan Giggs set to be named Wales manager

1927 Funnier than he thinks he is.

He wasn't playing for England! He was playing for England schoolboys, because he went to school in England. As opposed to English school boys, which was a different thing altogether. Any nationality could play for ENGLAND schoolboys if they went to school in England, whereas ENGLISH schoolboys was open to ENGLISH qualified players in any school anywhere.

Giggs had a choice of 2 nations to play at international level. Can anyone name the other WITHOUT Googling?

Gary Speed Record before managing Wales: Sheffield United P18 W6 D3 L9

    That went pretty well tho!

Bollocks Coleman left because they wouldn't invest! He had taken us as far as he could, and he knew it. All theses people saying that Giggs should have stood up to SAF, well why didn't Coleman, a man holding all the aces, stand up to the FAW? Because he didn't want to, he wanted out.

Even Beckham found out what happens if you don't do as you are told.

If we are all honest with ourselves wed all have done what Giggs did. He extended his career by years, and at the end of the day its the day job that pays the bills.

While twitter and Facebook is over run with people making the same joke, and thinking they are so original about Giggs playing away and missing friendliest, what no one has commented on is the fact that on the day Cyrillic Regis died, Wales appointed a manager of African origin!

I seem to remember Giggs actually won an award once as the best black footballer to play in the EPL!

bromley ...isn't as good as Lewisham.

Doesn't seem to be too many international honours there.

Hint: He is managing at international level not club.

On a serious note, I thought he came across well when he did his end of season speech at Old Trafford. Seemed to have the respect of the players.

Counting his pay off. Nice work if you can get it. I don't see why Giggs is getting stick when a donkey like Southgate has managed to nick a living so far. I think he will be good for the younger players who will look up to him because he's actually achieved something in his playing days.

    No it doesn’t!

If it didn’t I would have applied for the job!

I hope he does well as the manager of Wales, I had never watched Wales play before the 2016 Euros but watched the game against Belgium, one of the best games I've seen. The National team of Wales seem to me to be one of the very few National teams that play for the name on the front of the shirt and not the players name on the back.

Seems bizarre to me. Never been an actual manager. Weird.

I was gutted when I hard it was him, and was pretty much dismayed after seeing the original four on the shortlist, talk about a lack of ambition. I know we're only Wales but I would have liked to have seen the FAW been a bit more ambitious in who they could have got.

I'd be amazed if he lats the four years, first sniff of a Prem team job and he'll be off.

A persons achievements as a player are completely irrelevant once they become a manager.

Granted a lot of fantastic players seem to get jobs as managers thanks to their reputation but are very soon found out.
