Well, at least we didn't go out in the pool stages eh? :D

And fuck me, the saffies got no tries, so what the hell.

well, thank fuck for that. Don't think I could have coped with my gallic depression if you guys had gone on to win.

Didn't see the replays of the try - was making dinner for four and stormed out as I assumed it was good - but I think the result is fair. Best team (IMO) on the night won, they were also the better team over the course of the tournament - which of course means nothing in a knockout tourney, but it's good to see a good* team triumph.

*I'm obviously using the word good in an annoying way here , given that England were played good albeit boring rugby, but what the hell.

Fair play TB :) Although I'd argue the "boring" comment in that match - we were fucking chucking it around all night.

On a totally bizarre note, anyone else enjoying th efootage of the bloke carving "South Africa" onto the cup live as it happens?! :D

Fuck it, most improved team of the tourney, fuck em all :)

Because it's the rules.

Yep, but his leg didn't touch the line before he grounded the ball.
His foot was over the line but about 6'' off the ground , now as I understand the Rules, the try should have been given.
But then again nice bit of revenge from the TMO seeing as his team had been back in Aus for the last 2 weeks.

well, i have to say i enjoyed to watch the last two games of rugby.

reminds me a bit of the gladiators.

i think you can be proud to come second in the RCW 2007!

fair play

ok imo should have been a try.. but i think the scoreline reflected the team about right.

boks lineout was vastly superior to englands and their kicking game was better.

with neither teams backs doing much it was never going to be a tryfest.

but fair doos to england, I had written you off after the first few games and had you not given away those early penalties who knows...

some ... shall we say... "interesting" refereeng decisions though. My mate, who is south african, at one point said.. its great to be playing with 16 men...

boks deserved to win the tournie tbh, they did'nt fuck up like the Aussies,ABs and the French, always got the feeling they could step up a gear tonight if required,a game too far for the English,I suppose there wont be any- not- so victorious parade around Trafalgar Square this week then:p

Would have been nice to see the try given, we don't score many after all and it was a great run to start the move. And who knows what might have happened from that position.

Anyway, mustn't grumble, the Boks were the best team over the tourney, the cunts.

amazing how rugby folk don't seem to mention that decisions changed the game. with the try that should have been given England may well (with a conversion) have lead 10-9. The Boks werent the better side in open play - rarely came close to scoring a try. Best bit was when the girly boy at the back got upset when toby flood pushed him.

it's cos they are middle class cunts who always subscribe to the 'rules is rules' shite, which is also the reason they look down their noses at dissenting footballers.

Like I said, I was making dinner for four so missed bits. Chucking it around is all well and good but we were doing that last night - and not in a good way.

but the 'boring' remark was more about the way that England have, for most of the tourney, been playing 10 man rugby*. As I have said in previous posts, this isn't necessarily an insult - it got you to the final which is further than us - it was just a cliched comment from a 'neutral'.

Anyway, have a drink on me and bask in the knowledge that your boys did well.

*I'm sure I'll get flamed for that when I'm sober :)

well id rather be middle class any day (which I am anyway lol) but that's nothing to do with it - I was just wondering why no-one questioned the appalling decision. It changed the game.

Appalling decisions happen. Sometimes they go for you sometimes they don't - and it looked like Mike Catt (I hate that man) was questioning it pretty vocally.

you wouldn't.

No, I wouldn't.

Having growing up hating the Scottish rugby team because the only rugby players I knew as a kid were the same public school boys who used to kick the shit out of me, I still have somehow managed to meet many players who come from as rough a background as you could imagine.

Having also spent quite some time in France (where I, somewhat perversely, call home) where it is far from a posh cunt's game. Not to mention going to games in the West Country, and spending many an evening with the Welsh fans visiting Edinburgh.

erm..yeah...I don't get it. How is rugby a posh cunt's game?

because it's easy stereotyping from someone who can't be arsed to have a little think about the complexities of the world :)

what's wrong with questioning an appalling decision?

Nothing. You said noone was questioning the decision, and I saw Catt questioning it with the ref.

Maybe I misunderstood and you were talking about people here?

you're of course correct, what i meant to say was, it's for posh cunts, inbred fuckwits and uncle tom serfs.

and rugby folk in general

i thought he clearly got the ball down without touching the line

Swings and roundabouts. I'm sure it won't make you feel any better, but you'll no doubt win a grand slam on the back of a dodgy decision before the next World Cup comes around.

Just have a drink and think about the Aus and Fra games - christ knows thinking about our win over the ABs kept me going after you beat us. It's not much solace, but given how bad you were when the WC started, a close fought final is worth celebrating :)
