Russian Ambassador Shot and killed in Turkish Capital

Several reputable sources have stated that he was a member of the Turkish Police/Security Services. There's no way he'd be standing there otherwise. (the Ambassador's security wouldn't let anyone stand in a blindspot who wasn't supposed to be there. )
looking that way

That is no doubt how the Turkish government will be desperate to spin this (if it is a security person who did this), hopefully with the benefit of the bloke being shot dead soon (if he hasn't been already) and being unable to speak for himself.

That would involve blaming Erdogans ruinous policies . Much more likely they'll try and pin it on Kurds/Gulen /CIA...as they usually do .

Wait till you hear the cheering and gloating when one of their takfiri bedfellows kills an RT reporter, weatherpresenter whatever . Wankers .

RT did a thing months ago where they had bits on their journalists private lives (a sort of day in the life thing), almost as if to underline their humanity in media form you could say. I thought that was a good idea on their part.

After the Russian fighter jet was shot down Putin showed that he is not a man for knee jerk reaction. Whatever the response will be it will calculated.

So once again we're relying on the level-headedness of Vladimir Putin, are you happy with this situation... that we all live in relative non-radioactive comfort because in effect, Vladimir Putin (the power mad brute we're encouraged to believe) allows it? I'm not.

I must admit to being more than a little puzzled...

I'm astonished that the Russian Ambassador had such little security - not that someone was able to get close enough to do the deed, but that the assassin wasn't immediately shot by the ambassadors protection team.

Where was the protection team?

(No, I'm not a conspiraloon, I don't think it was a Russian set up, and I don't think Erdogan planned it - it's just a screw up that someone took advantage of and was probably amazed they survived more than 30 seconds...)

FYI the British ambassador is becoming something of a celebrity in Turkey due to his willingness to interact with Turks on twitter. The man gets daily threats.

The attacker was Turkish police. Been in active service since 2014 and was part of ambassador's bodyguard team. He is now dead.

I'm still not quite sure what you're getting at here. Russia is at war, this is the sort of thing that happens. Something very similar has happened to the US not so long ago. I'm not happy with the situation, far from it.

It's difficult to protect yourself against those supposed to be protecting you.

As the recent coup showed Erdogan does not have full control of those at the top of the military, let alone those further down the chain of command.

It's not that, it's that the Russian Ambassador in London has more people on his protection team than one local rozzer - while this bloke was emptying his magazine into the ambassador and then holding forth afterwards, what was the rest of the team doing?

I'm just shocked they trusted the Turkish security forces for any level of protection...

So am i - it's normal to have your own people as your immediate circle, with local police providing an outer screen. While I can almost understand other Turkish Police not opening fire on the assassin, I see no reason why the Russians would have such qualms...

Fair enough.

Why should we have any sorrow at the death of filth like this? I'm no more upset by this scumbags death than I would be if someone placed a bomb in the Pentagon or MI6s Headquarters

It's not a tactic I'd suggest for anyone but I'm not going to shed crocodile tears over these people, fuck em.
I don't really see anyone showing sorrow for his demise as a person. Rather concern of the potential ramifications and escalation in the instability of the world.

Oh I think it's safe to say erdogan has full control of the army command now

Being tacitly supportive.

For starters you massive tit do you have any idea what the repercussions may be if it turns out the assassin had any links whatsoever to western intelligence agencies ? Or that western intelligence agencies might have been even remotely aware of this plot ? What might occur if the assassin turns out to be linked to a US supported takfiri group in Syria ? Or any group receiving western assistance ?
Particularly in light of the series of threats made to Russia by both John Kerry and his spokesperson Kirby for their audacity to defy the empire in Syria ? Those threats of body bags and terrorist attacks on Russian interests and cities if they continued to defy the US . Other threats about retaliating at a time and place of the US choosing but in a manner that America won't be blamed but the Russians will get the message .

Threats made very confidently right before things like this happened

How convenient

To be fair, it's not in either the assassins or the group/cause he's working for for him to be subject to the 'methods' of interogation that the Turks would use.

The Russians would want him alive, as would the Turks - Erdogan having a deep personal interest in the reliability of Turkish close protection teams...

He's divined a plot already. Good work.
