Russia prepares for nuclear war with mass evacuation exercise

you don't need tea leaves to know something's on the way, what with the nine dash line i mentioned, the wars in the middle east, insurgencies in africa, rising tensions with russia... all that's in question is the off. clearly we're not off to war this year. next year? still very unlikely. but you look a few years into the future and things which are now merely on a low simmer may well have risen towards a boil. it's not all done on the spur of the moment you know.

What does Nostradamus say?

The yanks have already bombed the Syrian army once recently ," by mistake ", causing massive casualties . Before and ever since that " mistake " there's been constant deliberate leaks to the western press that strikes on the Syrian Army are on the agenda . Essentially getting the public used to the idea while constantly bombarding them with humanitarian wailing and handwringing . Russia has now brought in the S 300 and S 400 AA systems and explicitly told them to back the fuck off . Russian advisors , trainers and specialists are embedded among Syrian troops . Russia is delivering aid all over Syria and that aid operation is protected by Russian troops, in turn protected by Syrian troops . There's a very real possibility Russian servicemen and civilians would be caught up in any strikes .

‘S-300, S-400 air defenses in place’: Russian MoD warns US-led coalition not to strike Syrian army

Diplomatic relations between the Whitehouse and Kremlin regarding Syria have now been severed . Thats very serious . This could kick off very shortly, basically as soon as a strike on Syria is green lighted . Or as soon as another " mistake " occurs . I'm convinced that the earlier strike on the Syrian Army was no mistake whatsoever, a deliberate shot across the bows with the intent to intimidate them into halting the Allepo offensive . all they got in return was a massive GTF . And I'm convinced another is on the cards .

This is very close to nose to nose, right now . It could escalate at any moment frankly . Not good . Quite worrying actually. The fact open conflict is actually being talked about quite regularly on all sorts of media is a very worrying development in itself .

The Americans or factions therein may well call their bluff, see if they can saturate Russian defences with a barrage of cruise missiles or something. I wouldn't put it past them if they have the kit in place. Or maybe they'll try a cheeky couple just to see what happens, give that smug git Kirby something to smirk about at press conferences. It's all very gulpsome.

Kirbys been openly mouthing off about Russians going home in body bags, Al Qaeda attacking Russian cities ...all as repercussions for not throwing it's Syrian ally under the bus. Those are indirect threats, but certainly not empty ones by any means . Samantha Powers behaviour at the UN has been abominable . Like really the pits . Clintons determined to persue a " no fly zone " ...which is basically war . these fuckers want to do something here, to well and truly up the ante . They're seething . And they're fucking idiots, a really bad combination . Angry idiots who believe they're exceptional, with an inherent right and mission to control the world .
Mainstream media in the US, the Wall Street Journal and the Washington post are also clamouring for this and have been for quite a while now . Which means the Democrat establishment are telling them to popularise it . . To make the public case for it . To have liberals solemnly nodding in assent . Which means they fully intend to do something . A " no fly zone " is code for war . A means of getting around congressional approval for war . Obamas leaving shortly so doesn't give a fuck . This can be his last " fuck you " to the congress who thwarted him all those years . And an excellent Christmas present for Clinton. She's licking her chops at the prospect .

I'm convinced this is definitely going to go " hot " . But to what degree I honestly don't know . Not only has the rhetoric , the posturing and the open threats been cranked up considerably it's been matched by murderous actions already . Very not good .

Can't bring myself to click "like", but I agree.

If they do launch their war it'll most likely be a combination. Cruise missiles, all out electronic jamming , stealth aircraft . Worth remembering the Serbs took down a stealth with an antiquated S 200 system . And delivered the carcass to Russia . Who've picked over every circuit board . They may well believe they have the capability to get in and out unscathed . And they may well be wrong and make a major miscalculation .

If they don't act soon their jihadi / AQ proxies in Allepo are done for and once that happens they've lost in Syria . And once that happens it means US dominance, which is on the wane, officially goes on the wane . The New American Century dream becomes a laughing stock . They'll go to war to prevent that happening . That's what's at stake here and why I'm convinced they'll escalate this and fuck up really badly .

Dishonest rubbish yes, even if the Americans do attack Syrian forces again or Russian forces in Syria this time it's not too late to pull back from some sort of full scale nuclear naqba, but there would be some sort of kinetic exchange of veiws, that's been made clear. Has been already according to some reports, with 30 odd US, Isreali and British personnel hit by a Russian strike on an intelligence facility in Allepo just after the Deir Azzor attack recently. Rumors shmoomers.

The Russians have been said to consider the Americans "not agreement capable" at the moment, maybe they'll allow for that. They pretty much called out the CIA and the Pentagon as being independent actors on the American side in the youtube I posted above.

As usual, stories that attempt to apply an extreme sense of immediacy to global thermonuclear war are laughable shit. Especially talk of who will fire what missiles first - come on, its been a long time since even fictitious 1980's level computer AI worked out the concept of mutually assured destruction via numerous games of noughts and crosses. How about a nice game of chess? [ / War Games reference]

Having said that, its rather obvious that this century so far has involved various rather dangerous slips and slides in alarming directions and there is a sense that it's going to get even messier in the years ahead. But there is a lot of ground to cover between various sorts of unpleasant doom and actual global war. I certainly won't be trying to predict the actual trigger point now, especially as it seems just as likely to involve other countries and squabbles over the South China Sea as it does the classic tension between Russia and the west. And since nuclear war involves various features that negate key reasons why war is ever considered a good option by those who decide such things, even a world where international relations go all to fuck and things get very ugly won't necessarily feature any mushroom clouds.

Hard to tell whether to worry about the potential implications or get angry about the sloppy, tabloidesque, fear-mongering headline... 'Nuclear capable' is not 'nuclear equipped'. I'm sure NATO has a few 'nuclear capable' (but not equipped) missiles within striking distance of Russian soil...

They didn't say that . They've said if they encounter incoming cruise missiles or if the uninvited western aircraft ...which are in Syrian skies on a daily basis..make another " mistake " then it's very likely to be shooting time . And have pointed out theyve shot down American aircraft before in Korea and Vietnam and are prepared to do it again . While warning the US " dilettantes " it would also be a mistake to assume their invisible aircraft are actually invisible . Or that the range and coverage of their anti aircraft missiles does exactly was it says on the tin .

And in recent days it seems the belligerent and aggressive US posturing hasn't intimidated them in the slightest . The Russian Duma has just voted to authorise the deployment of Russian aircraft in Syria on an indefinite basis . so that's that . The intimidation has produced the opposite effect . Just as the " mistake " in Deir EzZor did .

And globally this is very high stakes . For instance if the Russians and Syrians succeed in facing down both the US proxy war combined with US threats of direct offensive action then those countries currently hosting the US " missile shield " may well have second thoughts about hitching their wagon to a declining world power while making themselves an unnecessary target for a new power that's on the rise . Namely a Russian and Chinese centred axis . That's what's at stake here . There's rumblings in Hungary, Slovakia, Czech republic . Massive disillusionment with the EU . Open admiration for Russia's independent stance . Way too much at stake for certain interests .

Whilst at the same time US policy makers are bought and paid for by both the Saudis and Qataris . Puppets on the strings of medievalist ashholes who are terrified at the prospect of Assad emerging victorious . That right there is another impetus for the yanks to keep doubling down no matter what . And why the situation is so dangerous . The sheikhs simply cannot contemplate defeat in Syria . All means necessary must be brought to bear to avoid that . The pressure on the yanks to go on the offensive will be immense . Because the sheikhs will be ruined if they dont .

More lethal threats . White house talking about going outside the UN to " impose costs " on the Russians . Former CIA director explains what those " costs " actually are . Body bags as Kirby threatened earlier .

And a handy timeline of this ratcheting up the rhetoric . These bastards very much intend to go for it . Just listen to them. Jesus Christ that guy Milley , their military chief of staff . And now their military...and the white house...openly proclaim Russia and Syria to be an " existential threat " to both the US and it's Gulf allies .

Existential threat . Jesus Christ .

More generally, did the whole Cold War - mediocre, weak ending, wouldn't watch again - not do anything to convince the Clancy fan fiction types that all this shit-talking mostly just amounts to a really boring lack of total annihilation, a kind of nuclear-tipped No Country For Old Men?

And all the stuff since. Like that time we all remember when nu-Russia nuked Denmark for whatever it was to do with submarines.

I love a nice bit of war but I must have got jaded in my old age. Wake me up when Gavrilo Princip comes back and assassinates James Blunt.

Worth remembering the Serbs took down a stealth with an antiquated S 200 system .

The 1999 Nighthawk shootdown was with an SA-3/S-125 not an S-200.

The Serbian chainsmokers in tracksuits shot down 3 fixed wing and 2 rotary wing NATO types in 1999 out of almost 40,000 sorties so it wasn't a brilliant advert for Russian air defence technology.

Yeah, because the Yanks operated the thing like a bus timetable. Not much use having stealth tech if you can see it with your eyes.

That's not entirely accurate . Leaving aside the fact it was a pitch black aircraft extremely high up in the middle of the night, it was only its third mission over Serbia . There was a combination of factors . The yanks comms had been intercepted by the Serbs . Meaning the Serbs had a good idea in which area there'd be an attacker in advance . In order to actually hit the thing with guided missiles, from ten miles away , the radar still had to actually detect it and the guidance systems to lock on. Something that was supposedly impossible to do with a Stealth craft . And something that was additionally very difficult to do , given that the moment Serb anti aircraft radar started scanning it would immediately be targeted for destruction by HARM systems, which lock onto radar emissions and send a missile straight after it . So they only had about 20 seconds in which to do it . With an antiquated missile system that was considered pretty much obsolete by modern NATO standards .
There was another one believed to have been damaged on a different night but made it back to base .

Technology that was about 40 years out of date by that stage .

The Russians, then under that drunken traitor Yeltsin, refused to supply the Yugoslavs with any modern kit . Despite that the antiquated gear they did possess forced those 40 , 000 odd sorties to be conducted at heights that made their attempts to destroy the Yugoslav army ineffectual. 40, 000 sorties and the army walked out of Kosovo virtually intact . not a bad result for such a small impoverished country of track suited chain smokers .
