I think this might very well be in my top ten films of all time, I've been meaning to watch it for about the tenth time recently but can't find my DVD.

Anyway, for anyone who hasn't seen it - you should and you should do so immediately. It is funny as you like, with outstanding performances from Jason Schwartzmann as Max Fischer and Bill Murray as Bill Murray under a name I can't recall right now. You know what I mean about Bill Murray though, this is vintage Bill.

It's about Max Fischer, son of a barber going to a private school on scholarship, being incredibly clever but spreading himself too thin and then falling in love with a new teacher. There's no way I can get across to you how funny and warm hearted a film this is though and how every single scene featuring the Max Fischer Players, his theatre group is fantastically funny.

Watch it or rewatch it.

I have to agree. It is also almost certainly in my top ten. I think I am about ready to watch it again for the millionth time.

"Mmm, I'm a little bit lonely these days "

"The killing's gotta stop, esse, it's getting too loco. No more gats."

The scene that quote comes from and the context it is in makes me lol every time.

Lost in Translation is another wonderful film, and it's absurd to think it's racist -it's about difference, not racism. It would have worked the same if Murray had been an Inuit staying in a hotel in Dubai.

If LIT was about Japanese people in Britain, we'd be monocle wearing top hatters and chimney sweeps with bad teeth and repressed homosexuality.
