Rush The Bank! Thurs 5th March! RBS! 1pm! Bishopsgate!

16m is .04% of 33b
it's not the important thing
on 2nd thoughts, if it gets people angry, then good
but I don't like the way the media have latched onto the bonuses of bank leaders as the main story. Compared to the amount of our money that's being poured into the system, it's completely insignificant

Mostly Jolly hockysticks! :D

It's definitely having an effect, though. They did a Climate Rush at the UK Coal Awards and UK Coal not only backed out of their chosen venue, they've also been blacklisted by the hotel chain that was going to host them and the Climate Rush folk will be advising the chain on which other companies to refuse business from, which is an interesting development.

It's an interesting development because it shows just how much UK Coal in particular are on the back foot in PR terms. Not so long ago they would have brazened it out and held the event at their chosen venue anyway. But they seem to be more than a tad gun shy when it comes to the PR battle between UK Coal and the climate change movement. Certainly it's symptomatic of positive progress on the PR front, at least.

Nothing will change for working class people without significant changes to the class structure!

The G20 MELTDOWN site announces 4 starting points to converge on the city on April 1st - starting from these 4 stations at 11am - Moorgate, London Bridge, Liverpool street and Cannon Street. Also calling for a GENERAL STRIKE on the day. I’ll be interviewing CHRIS KNIGHT about the Meltdown and the GOVERNMENT OF THE DEAD on Resonancefm. Unmissable radio. It looks like the March 28th TUC marchwill be BIGGER THAN THE POLL TAX RIOT!

So we are told by Ian Bone, come on comrade look towords whome you are joining forcess with, 25 years on from when The Miners’ Strike (1984–1985) began, these are the very people who are saying no new coal there the ones that brought you climate camp these people are not the new class war, there The Middle Class the very root of our problems.

When we RIOT it has to be on our terms, not on thers or the state, we need to RIOT THROUGH SUBERBIA and as well as roasting a fat banker or 2 we need to add more meat to the feast in the form of The Middle Class..

Yep :D

There's practical points about the efficacy of this, though. It's not on the Climate Rush website, and not everyone uses facebook, and a big chance that the OB will just move them swiftly on if they're not organised.

Maybe if enough unwashed communists appear at the bank together, Sir Fred will shit gold bullions out of his perfectly groomed arse.

Protesting for change = Great.

Protesting when the horse has bolted = Set of tarts with nothing better to do.

Hope the sun stays out for you though!

I don't think that you're quite getting that on this particular issue, it might be helpful to have the middle class on board as well.

Do you mean Siberia, Suburbia, or Serbia...? :D

And what's with the RANDOM capitalisation...?

Don't be daft... they have more moneys than him! Evil cunts.

Lets take to the streets! That'll show them! ...cos thats where they focus their attention, right? The streets? No? Oh right.... back to watching Shameless and tossing off over the Page 3 the chippy wrapped your cod in.

The act of rushing the bank is a purely symbolic act for media lenses with no real political or practical outcome

Modern Banks are built for minor terrorist attacks. All that will be done is just give more reason for improving it, and a 5 mins slot on the News about those jolly students and their japes...

I did some "Justice4Cleaners" stuff outside this very RBS, so just a practical/logistical issue....

Because it's on a normal street with a normal-sized pavement (with a bus-stop directly outside), rather than on a "plaza" (like a lot of other banks in the City), it's a very easy location for the OB to move you on from for "obstruction."

Not to mention the Copshop about 100 m away...

These "middle classes" may often not be, and they may be the the impetus behind new forms of "working class" organisation and action if the material gains of the last few decades dissappear.

...but don't let that get in the way of your posturing.

HBOS might be better in terms of where it's situated ...

Possibly, but IIRC RBS is being targetted partly because it's the biggest financier of projects, in the UK anyway, that contribute to global warming worldwide. Hence their being targetted for a Climate Rush.

Yep, I understand that. But the pavement is very narrow outside RBS and there's also a bank of busy bus stops just outside RBS too.

I'm sure that'll be discussed during the planning stages. I'm not involved in planning this, but it'd certainly be worth considering, yes.

The nearest ones are either the cabinet in Tesco's, or over in Liverpool Street: http://www.krispykreme.co.uk/krispy/user/page.phtml?page_id=261

Neither will provide much of a distraction.

You're quite right.

However, IIRC, Tesco is in the opposite direction to RBS and closer to the copshop than RBS. Thus any dibble intent on supression of protest would surely heed the siren call of Krispy Kreme and head off the wrong way. :)

And the queues in that Tesco are always a mile long -- particularly at lunchtime. They won't get there til gone 3.

so if that's the case this would result in what decent long term solutions...
Blah blah fucking blah

People always say this, but those involved in Climate Rush and similar groups are precisely they type of people who are constantly engaged in trying to find new ways of organising society.

The people to slag off are the scamsters and the muppets who let them rip us off through apathy and apologism.
