Rupaul's drag race

I did a rewatch. All twelve seasons in time for the S12 finale today.

I really think the top six this season were spectacular. There are many seasons that Heidi or Jackie could’ve won outright. Compare them with flipping Aquaria and it’s a joke.

Very interesting show. Really has contributed to a societal change. RuPaul himself is less than the sum of its parts, but it's no less important for all that.

Found the face-kini thing for the last two episodes, weird. Surely he can still do his own boy-face? Even if he’s behind on Botox or whatever...

A few episodes into Canada's DR. No Ru. Hmm. It's a bit meh. A bit amateur almost. The contestants mainly already know one another and there's not much bitchiness

It definitely gets more bitchy :D

I find the judging a bit strange, like they place a lot more importance on the runway compared to the challenge. Like in normal RPDR, a great outfit might save you from LFYL'ing if you had a shaky performance in the challenge, but chances are you'd still be near the bottom. However in CDR, even if you were basically one of the worst in the challenge, you can still win the entire week if your outfit is good.

I think this reflects the confidence of the judges, esp BLH, as they're more comfortable judging outfits rather than the variety of talents you need in the challenge.

Also interesting how everyone on twitter loved Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman at the start now they hate him! I find him a bit too hammy and scripted, would be nice to see a bit more personality.

I like watching it, yes it's not the same without Ru Paul but it still makes me laugh and there's still talent.

It actually reminds me I want to watch some more Thailand's drag race, I've only watched the first episode (with exactly the same challenge as first episode on CDR).

Yes! And this week the opposite. Best in challenge (probably) but bottom three and torn shreds off for the runway.
