Rugby Union 2014-15

Lol. We'll see what we are really made of now on Friday night. I don't think Foley is going to be the job. Hope I'm wrong.
Everyone knows you're made of corkonian warrior spirit mixed with sky sports crystalline jiźz. C'mon, don't be shy.

Hey Teaboy! I now officially have something to be optimistic about. Since the Teflon cur, Dai Pickering was voted off the gravy train by an increasingly alarmed WRU board there has been increasing speculation as to who would replace him. Would it be another nodding dog intent on preserving the ancien regime or would they appoint a candidate for change? Well, it appears that the turkeys have chosen the latter option and appointed Welsh Rugby great, Gareth Davies to the helm. He's firmly a grassroots and region man and played a significant role in the regions' battling rearguard action against the Worst Run Union over the summer. He also hates Roger Lewis with the passion he deserves. Expect the oily sociopath to be out by next year and the healing of Welsh Rugby under a unity chair and new CEO to begin.

I'm permitting myself a glimmer of optimism for the first time in a year and am off to Cardiff to throw palm fronds into the street and ululate wildly. Rejoice, Barad Dur is falling!:D

Rumours now surfacing on Twitter that Lewis contacted lawyers to try and block Davies' appointment. If so, he's gone

Busted flush Munster who are apparently treated like royalty by refs and allowed to cheat won again against last seasons finalists. This despite a legitimate try being disallowed and a blatant Saracens red card being given only as a yellow.

I'd hate to see what would happen if we were no longer treated as royalty

Not treated as royalty? The thomond faithful must have been furious ;)

US take on the AB's in Chicago at the weekend. Apparently, it's sold out.

In the real world Ulster have the Dragons in Ravenhill, hopefully we'll return to some kind of form that means that basic skills are central.

You don't need form to beat the Dragons; you just need 15 people on the pitch and your gran on the bench

They already have one

I knew that! What I should have said was that they should just forget the PRO12 and focus on their own domestic game, they have squandered a lot of money trying to establish their two PRO12 teams and have got nowhere. Scrap it, put the money into the youth game instead.

Would it be be more financially viable if they joined the French system?

WALES TEAM TO PLAY AUSTRALIA:

Leigh Halfpenny (Toulon), Alex Cuthbert (Cardiff Blues), George North (Northampton Saints), Jamie Roberts (Racing Metro), Liam Williams (Scarlets), Dan Biggar (Ospreys), Rhys Webb (Ospreys), Paul James (Bath), Richard Hibbard (Gloucester), Samson Lee (Scarlets), Jake Ball (Scarlets), Alun Wyn Jones (Ospreys), Dan Lydiate (Unattached), Sam Warburton (Capt), Taulupe Faletau (Newport Gwent Dragons).

Replacements: Scott Baldwin (Ospreys), Gethin Jenkins (Cardiff Blues), Rhodri Jones (Scarlets), Bradley Davies (London Wasps), Justin Tipuric (Ospreys), Mike Phillips (Racing Metro), Rhys Priestland (Scarlets), Cory Allen (Cardiff Blues).

The convicts are going to run rings round Cuthbert and North at 13.

At least we should dick them in the scrum.

All could yet change. SW and JD waiting on late fitness tests, which would put North back to the wing. Gutlund clearly looking to decimate their scrum, which is wishful thinking with Joubert officiating

Don't agree with Lydiate starting. I'd have Warburton at blindside and Tips at 7

I wouldn't have Warbs there at all and certainly not as captain. What odds on another narrow lead being thrown away in last minute by an on field captaincy error from captain blunder?

Injuries, injuries and injuries.

Payne and Henshaw in the centre, where neither have excelled and down to the bones in front row and cover. Still Zebo is back with Ruddock on the bench. Good to see players getting a chance.

We'll get beaten but if we can keep it respectable (under 14) I'll be happy.

R Kearney; T Bowe, J Payne, R Henshaw, S Zebo; J Sexton, C Murray; J McGrath, S Cronin, M Ross; D Toner, P O’Connell (captain), P O’Mahony, C Henry, J Heaslip.
Replacements: R Strauss, D Kilcoyne, R Ah You, M McCarthy, R Ruddock, E Reddan, I Madigan, F Jones.

For all that you disparage him he brings a physicality to openside that Tipuric can't match. Big, aggressive teams who swamp the breakdown take a lot out of Tipuric, and there are fewer more effective defensive 7s than Sam. I'd never leave him out of the team as it stands: he's world class.

Watching Wales and Aussies. Have both teams made a pact not to tackle? No intensity, loads of mistakes from Wales.

It's like a Baba's game
