the first track on "stormcock" is kind of okay, but the rest leaves me pretty cold.
there' s one particularly beautiful moment though: right near the end (of #1) where the vocal sounds like they ran the voice through a kind of "organ swirl" effect... very nice.

this will probably irritate the fans, but Roy Harper supported Joanna Newsom at the Royal Albert Hall tonight at her request. I didn't bother going in to see him cos he's annoyed me when I have, but it seems he did the whole of Stormcock, in order, because it's her favourite album.

Which must have been quite a show.

Me and my friend listened to about two incredibly long and tiresome songs of this before retiring to the bar. Jeez it was self indulgent, and not in a good way. Perhaps I was missing something, but it made me squirm.

I went to see him a few months ago in Bolton and it looked like he'd been smokin all day

I saw him in Newport and that line in Repo Man where he asks the old hippy if he smoked a lot of dope in the 60's came to mind. A lovely man though and a great night.

actually brian, i think that was my problem with him. I'm not into overt hippy shit. But fair play to those into that kind of look back thing. Left me cold and need of alcohol, personally. Joanna was cool up to a point -gig went on for 20 mins too long to make it a great gig.
