Soho rents are unaffordable for the likes of Rough Trade, the area's already well served by specialist record shops and they'd face price competition from the Fopps that are sprouting up all central London.

The problem with Fopp is they got to big for their boots. For example in their Shaftsbury Ave store just down from our Neal's Yard shop, they were selling Rough Trade Shop compilations for £2.50 cheaper than we sold them for. Basically they were making a loss on them but still continued to sell them.

They start in August 6th and run for one month, I can't say anymore until Monday but they'll be some super good ones.

Just been down there.
First impressions?
1) It's not that large, wouldn't bother making a special trip.
2) 1 person on the tills, 5 guys getting records for peeps wanting to try out the turntables. Hmmmmmmmm . . .

Still same away with a couple of bits & bobs mind.

It's still there but was to hard to move!! Pop into Slam City Skates and you'll see it.
