Rooney out of World Cup?

now with rooney out of the picture that looks like englands chances gone of getting out of the group stages..

That is, quite frankly, pish. Even without Rooney we still have Owen (who should be back to fitness in time), Joe Cole, Gerrard, Lampard, Beckham, all players capable of moments of greatness.

Rooney is the one I felt could win a world cup for us, and without him I doubt we will win it, but to say we will not get out of the group is stuff and nonsense.

Without owen or rooney fit, I'd put lampard up front to be honest. He's a better striker than crouch, and is gagging for goals all the time. Gerrard can then be the attacking midfielder with no conflict of role.

Cole in the hole, Carrick in behind the trio of Gerrard, Lamps and Becks. I'd rather have Cole than Crouch/Defoe/whoever to start with.
