Rooney not ready to forgive WTF?

Groucho said:
And what is to be read into that exactly? Both players smiled. If Ronaldo said 'we're gonna whip your arse.' So what? Is it the fault of Ronaldo for ribbing Rooney that Rooney trod on another players bollocks? Come on! I saw a football pitch not a playground.
I agree with what you say. :)

I was just pointing out that Rooney and Ronaldo were having their own sub-plot going on.

My position on this is...

Ronaldo = wanker
Rooney = hot head
Sven = very rich fella going on a long holiday with a lot of English money.

the fact that he was even talking about that meant that it was an issue even before the game started....

Garth Crooks asked Rooney if it was a time for cool heads.

If I saw an opponent stamp on my team-mates balls I would probably want to make sure that the referee was going to punish it appropriately. I didn't see Ronaldo brandishing any invisible cards.

They are both young kids and are obviousy 'friendly rivals'. That relationship has probably soured irrepairably now though.
ETA - or maybe not........ http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2006/5141510.stm

I agree. :)

But it's easy to hate C. Ronaldo isn't it, coz he's already seen as a huge wanker!

one good thing about this world cup is that it has reinforced so many of my petty irrational hatreds.

Ronaldo was pretty smart about it. Ever since the Norn Iron game it's been pretty obvious to me that Rooney can be got at psychologically and that's what Ronaldo tried to do. More power to him. Anybody who's ever played much footie knows that getting the psychological upper hand on your opponent is a key part of footie. Attacking ronaldo for doing well what every decent player tries to do is just sour grapes.

Out thought, out played, out-scored!

Na na na na na na.

Even with ten men we looked the more likely. Still, on pens we are the worst and it showed again.

3 penalties scored versus one. Portugal played for penalties better than england played for a win.

So smart he let the whole world know he was going to do it and played little part in actually getting him sent off (he didn't foul or get fouled by Wayne).

And Ronaldo didn't wind up Rooney, the service he was receiving wound him up.

portugal played for penalties?

despite england having had their "best player" sent off and only having 10 men on the pitch? they decided to hold out for what is, essentially, a lottery?

do you actually watch any football? really?

Tabloid newspapers are scum shocker!!!!

So the tabloid press in other countries are remarkably well behaved? I think not.

The original poster might as well have posted up :

"No wonder everyone else is wary of black people!" <insert random link about an horrifcly violent crime that just happens to have a black person as the perputrator here> "This is why people try to avoid gangs of blacks on the streets.....of course, this is not aimed at anyone on Urban 75 and I know not all blacks are like that..........."

You are an obsessed idiot. You post the same crap on every thread.

The original post talked about "England tabloid newspapers and tv stations" not English people. in order to avoid getting attacked by idiots the o/p then went on to make it clear that English people were not the target of the criticism. However, obsessed idiots like you cannot comprehend - the mildest criticism of anything English and you are off on yor rant about racism.

I have little doubt that as soon as someone says owt critical about the English weather you'll be sticking up the same post, incomprehensible though that will (also) be.

English tabloids are amongst the worst in the World. A bit off topic, but whilst there are plenty of countries with tabloids as bad, there are few countries boasting a so called 'free press' with such a limited spread of political views represented.

No he's right. It's obvious Scolari changed his front formation the entire game because he wasn't trying to score a goal and avoid penalties.

And no doubt we'll get told Scolari out thought Sven again.

It'll all be over soon. Don't forget, their "World Cup" is effectively over now too ;) so the actual football fans can just sit back and watch the semi's and final, whereas the bigots will be twiddling their thumbs for two years (assuming England qualify obviously) not knowing what to so with themselves.

So, unless you're expressing yourself inaccurately, "they" = England fans = "the bigots"; the "real football fans" = everyone else. If so, you are one racist arsehole and I invite you to take a long hard nibble on a selection of my turds. Cunt!

erm.... nope. other way round.

They pulled off their centre forward in the second half and played with a 6 man midfield. They played to make sure that they wouldn't lose with the idea that as 10 man england tired they might nick a goal or at worst they'd have a much better chance at penos. That was why it was one of the shittest game of football in the tournament. If it wasn't for the entertainment of the sending off / Beckham pretending to be injured, I would have fallen asleep.

I have watched and played a great deal of football.

Ronaldo did his bit to wind Rooney up. The "friendly" clash of heads at the start and the rushing up to the ref all helped a wee bit. Of course, if I'd been Carvalho I would have been incessantly stamping on Roon's foot, calling him a chav scum traitor to his scouse roots and recounting tales of giving it to Coleen up the back passage throughout. Still Ronaldo did what he had to do.

Probably.

You've misunderstood me completely at any rate, it's the other way round.

Are you aware of what a penalty shoot out is? The only time one occurs is when neither team has out-scored the other. Duh!
....in normal play. A penalty shoot out only ends when one team has out-scored the other (after an equal number of attempts, that is no less than 5).

Duh back at you.

Sure, then why did he try to justify people supporting teams against England then?

I doubt the behavior of the press belonging to any country would have any bearing on whether I want a country to win or lose.

Rubbish, it goes on in every game, at all levels, people who are on at Ronaldo have no idea, he did nothing at all.

I'm sure it does, which is why I said plenty would do it.
