80m in the bank though. That's less than a fifth of the debt Glazer has leveraged on them, or another 4x Hargreaves to keep the team in good order.

Exactly, enough money to buy another Berbatov, Nani and Veron.

They might have enough money left over to give all the spectators in Old Trafford free Jesters hats to generate some atmosphere.

The only thing I'm confused about is your obsession with it.

Does it bother you that I come onto a thread and discuss football in a civil manner rather than in something akin to your dribbling idiot manner?

whose inflation? uk, spanish, and italian are a bit different! not to mention exchange rates - kaka cost less than Zidane in euro's, iirr.

    But, just for fun like:

£1000 in 1905 in £83905 today (uk inflation)

    £5,500 in 22 = £185,130

    £23,000 in 32 = £1,076,170

    £72,000 in 54 = £1,383,120

    £500,000 in 68 = £6,260,000

    £1,750,000 in 75 = £12,565,000

    £6,000,000 in 87 = £12,060,000

    £32,000,000 in 99 = £38,720,000

    £45,600,000 in 01 = £52,896,000

(& you mean 'proportionate' time axis, dontcha?)

I don't think this will affect United too much, they've lost big players before and it still didn't seem to affect them too much. It all depends on who they get over the transfer window to replace him. Hopefully Teves fucks off too, that will make me feel even better.

I don't think it will affect Utd that much....put it this way would be more upset if Fergie had gone....

As it is no player has ever been bigger than the club, Ronaldo has done amazing things for us though he always wanted to go to Real....and as the seasons rolled by he would eventually go for next to nothing.... He is a fantastic player and will be hard to replace though if they take that money and buy 2/3 top class players I don't think the loss will be that bad....

I know who I want to come...lets see though as a Utd fan am not crying into my the nature of football...

Wonder if any English club be able to do what Madrid have just done, spend £130+ million on 2 players,Man City maybe, none of the top 4 could.Redface will be the biggest loss for United when he eventually leaves .

figo was surely the start of the galacticos era! which was 2000. Zidane following next year and ronaldo(fat) the year after that.

the galacticos were never worth anything like what they spent on them, this sort of thing ruins so many players. look at brazilian ronaldo, or michael owen, or loads of the players who went to chelsea.

c.ronaldo has nothing to prove now he's the most expensive player in the world

even zidane was never as good at madrid as he was at juve and he was twice the player ronaldo is imo
  28. kained&able

dunno man zidane was still blinding for madrid.

But i love zidane more then ronaldo loves cake or new ronaldo loves bryl cream.

Two players (Figo and Zidane) doth not a Galactico policy make. I would argue that 2003-6 was the peak era, when they had Beckham, Figo, Zidane, Ronaldo, Raul and Roberto Carlos in the team, and won fuck all. Even in 2000-3 they only won La Liga once and the Chumps' League once, plus the Spanish equivalent the Charity Shield once. Not a good return for the money.

he was still amazing at madrid, he didn't fall off. but he carried juve when he played there, despite all the other players being pretty amazing
