Ronaldo to Madrid for £80m

This is silly. Thank god Cesc doesn't quite rank as a galactico yet.

One question - where the fuck are they getting all the money from?

As I understood the last big spending pattern was bankrolled by loans secured against, and revenue from, the sell off of their old training centre which was prime real estate in central Madrid.

Where are they getting the money from this time?

thought he might of.

But still that many goals from anywhere on the pitch let alone midfield is not easy to replace. Especeilly considering ronaldo allegedly had a crap season last time around.

Real Madrid remains the world’s largest revenue generating football club, according to the latest Football Money League from business advisory firm Deloitte. Manchester United and Barcelona finished second and third in the report, which ranks the 20 biggest football clubs in the world based on revenue. Each of the top three clubs generated revenues in excess of €300m. Analysis in the Football Money League is based on the latest financial information for the 2007/08 season.

As a United fan can I just say that I'm over the moon to see the back of the greasy, self-serving little shit. £80m. Get in.

have some wit ffs.

A young lad from Maderia comes to United at 17, becomes the best player in the world on his way to helping United return to the top of the English game with 3 league titles in a row and a European Cup.

its not just the crucial goals though. He rips through lesser teams defences.
Yep, its the mass of 1 goal victories over teams outside the top 5 that we'll miss. Football-wise its bonkers for anyone to suggest he isn't a major loss.

In every other way, he can fuck right off.

As a United fan, I'm very happy about this.

First - he's no where near worth £80 Million. £58 million tops I would have offered. We got a good deal.

Second - it should settle the Tevez matter - who I think will score more goals this season than he did last. Rooney on the other hand is the best player at United by far.

Third - the whining little twat can shut up whining about being 'treated like a slave' which was a fucking ridiculous thing to say  plus his tantrums on the pitch for not being given a penalty every time he slips over in the box won't be missed by anyone.

Fourth - it would be so funny if Madrid don't win anything next year :D

Tevez is overrated because he runs around a lot, Rooney is amazing and doesn't get enough credit but I wouldn't say he was better than Ronaldo let alone 'by far'.

Have a bit more respect for a player who was pivotal in wining the league and european double last season. Even in straight financial terms he owes United nothing, £80 million for a player bought 6 years ago for £12 million, yeah what a fucker he is.

Glad to see the whining little git leave the Premiership.

I know a lot of Man U fans will be gutted but it's not bad business for Man U, this. Ronaldo's so petulant - it can't be good for the team. Ferguson's whole deal has always been that no one player is bigger than the club so he's probably got shot of him at a good time.

Drink's point about the whole deal being worth around £200m is a good one. Mental, isn't it?

its reaslly annooying that the three best players in the world will all be playing in spain next year, rather then england.:(

So they're in the process of spunking over half of all their revenues for one season on two players?

What about the wage bill?

I know that people say that United would be able to spend silly money on transfers if the Glazers hadn't leveraged the club so highly, but these figures are ridiculous.

Even during the first Galacticos period Perez never bought more than one Galactico per season.

I take it the dosh from that's all been used in the Galactico era. Where are they getting their money from now to buy these players?
That is a more pertinent question, and one the Barcelona sport dailies are asking today.

Even as a Madrid fan I have to admit it the playing field is not level when some clubs with already significant debts can spend £150m+ and carry on as usual while others struggle to secure £20m for their summer transfers war chest.

Am I being overoptimistic in reckoning this could be the leak that will deflate United's squad?

It looks like Ferguson's burnt his bridges with Tevez over the course of the season - so much for being the great man manager - and Berbatov's agent is making noises once again.

Without Ronaldo their midfield doesn't look anything special as Giggs, the original geriatrico, and Scholes try to hobble on.

These 'debts' aren't really debts are they?

It's just a very sly form of corruption.

Yeah, I'm sure Ferguson is just gonna stick that £80 million under his bed and rest on it!

idiot

Well who's he going to buy then?

You can have all the money in the world but the truth of the matter is that there are not that many options these days. Demand's too high.

That's what's been frustrating Wenger for the last few seasons.

And why do you think Ferguson's going to see all of that 80 million anyway?

The club has to service debts <------------------------------------------------------------> this big.

6 best:

Casillas
Iniesta
Xavi
Messi
Ronaldo
Alves

hell no!

essien and torres are a lot higher on the list then casillas( i have never really rated him to be honest, i dont like the way he keeps goal) and alves.

Xavi and iniesta maybe though.:(:(

Utd will buy, they will pay down some debts though they will buy, who I'm not sure....would like to see Benezma and a quality midfielder, a lot depends on Tevez and whether Hargreaves comes back...

The thing is that because they've, IMO stupidly, declared the value of the offer every club in the world knows just how cash-rich they are. The value of any player they want to buy will go through the roof now. Especially Benzema. He was touted around for 20 million last summer, that'll be 30 minimum now and probably a good deal more for United's price.

Am gutted. AFAIC - other than Kaki and Messi - Ronaldo is worth two of any other world class player; if it bought Ribery and Benzema I'd have still rather had a happy Ronaldo playing for Utd. Making it three players with Tevez, and I'd still take Ronaldo.
