Ronaldo to Madrid for £80m

I must admit, I'm a bit gutted.
I suppose it was always gonna happen tho after last year

shame, 2nd best player in the world leaving my club and the premiership.

this might be good for Liverpool pressing for a league title next year to add to my misery

They survived the loss of Cantona, am sure they'll survive the loss of Ronaldo.

No chance, relegation is a certainty.

:)

I would have sold him at that price
Then brought Newcastle Utd
Kept the players I wanted
Sold the ground for luxury flats

When he scores the winner in the 93rd minute of the 2010 Champions League final against Man Utd it will be funny and lol and stuff.

Yoann Gourcuff.. the next Zidane apparently. Ligue 1 player of the year.

Edit:
actually no, he only completed his move to Bordeaux last month...

As a United fan, I'm very happy about this.

First - he's no where near worth £80 Million. £58 million tops I would have offered. We got a good deal.

Second - it should settle the Tevez matter - who I think will score more goals this season than he did last. Rooney on the other hand is the best player at United by far.

Third - the whining little twat can shut up whining about being 'treated like a slave' which was a fucking ridiculous thing to say  plus his tantrums on the pitch for not being given a penalty every time he slips over in the box won't be missed by anyone.

Fourth - it would be so funny if Madrid don't win anything next year :D

Fifth - we'll see an end to the worst chant in the premier league.

It was that knowledgable bloke Sepp Blatter who said the slavery comment

Does this mean Revol can go back to being straight?? :hmm:

No players worth a million let alone 80 million. Yet another example of a Tulip economy being run by the football clubs.

One day it'll all go pear shaped and we'll wonder why we didnt nip this obsene trading in the bud....

What has he or his predecessor had to say about the equally obscene spending sprees from various Premiership clubs?

It was Sepp Blatter, saying the Premiership was spending obscene money and complaining about it. The point is, we doubt he'll bat an eyelid if Real do it.

Word, and Madrid have been doing it for years and years, often founded on some quite dodgy stuff (IIRC they had a shifty thing going on a few years ago where they got loads of money from Madrid Council for something, which I bet an English club would have been sanctioned by UEFA for doing)

Indeed..I think he'a massively over-rated. Be better off grabbing Aguero and Benzema IMO.
Unfortunately Florentino sees players as investment first, players second.

And you know what? He'll get his money's worth out of him as well on increase merchandise revenue for the club.

Though I'd much rather he was trying to build up the team with a high quality, balanced squad.

To be fair the Madrid, the money they got was for selling a massive plot of land at the very centre of the financial district... think Arsenal owning a chunk of the City of London and selling it.

There were still questions about how the transaction took place and what the real worth of the land was, but a lot of money it was worth.

It does smack of de ja vu though....might win the league, depending really on what we do, maybe get further in the CL but it's not sustainable just like last time. Madrid needs to invest in its academy.

I take it the dosh from that's all been used in the Galactico era. Where are they getting their money from now to buy these players?

A Presdient with an equally shady past, deep pockets and friends in high places. Weirdly a lot of Madrid fans don't like him from the last time around...aside from getting Figo from us.

i seem to remember madrid being given(or all but) the land which they then sold, by the council.

can't remmber the deatials off the top of my head though and cant really be arsed to google.

I will miss ronaldo, not his diving and pissy attitude but he was the most skillful player in the permiership and scored bucket loads of goals.

The premiership will be worse off with out him.

Man united are going to have to do a lot of work on thier midfield. Nani isn't good enough for a regular starting place and giggs is just about gone, rumours that hargreeves might be perma fucked as well.

For left champ manager really rates Andrés Guardado, whos at deportivo and i know ac milan are sniffing around him. Might be worth a pop. Apparently he has a 25million euro release clause.

Should be intresting up at the top next season. Man united will find to find goals from somwhere and might fall a bit, chelsea will inevitably be stronger, it will be intresting to see what liverpool and arsenal can do to close the gap, and there is a strong chasing pack after the uefa spots.

Also the bottom is going to be quite weak, i don't rate any of the promoted clubs paticularly and with two of last seasons promoted clubs still in the division theres going to be some serious potential for massive score lines. I also predict wigan are really going to struggle.

I'm really looking foward to next season.

I think Man Utd could be a lot better without him.

Sure, they will miss him to pop up and score crucial goals, but they'll get a replacement or two.

£80m for Ronaldo - Man Utd must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Seriously....

Get someone decent on the left and right and actually put Rooney in front of goal and they'll get the goals.

its not just the crucial goals though. He rips through lesser teams defences.

and i think was the leading scorer in the prem last season(unless anelka ppipped him to it on the last day and i missed it) despite him being injured and out of form for a few months.

Its a massive, massive loss. He is either the best or second best player in the world and that its not easily replaceable.

I don't know my world football at all well, but i can't think of anyone who could instantly replace him, with the exception of messi, which isn't going to happen.
