Ronaldo: "I want to go to Real Madrid"

can't agree with you on liverpools history being bigger than uniteds, if anything we had a bigger history, were more successful and were much more famous up until liverpools golden period from the 70's till the end of the 80's, agree with the rest of your post though

that golden period is part of their history

I was talking about success. Right here, right now, Liverpool have won more league titles, more European trophies and more League Cups than Utd. Utd have won more FA Cups. But the fact that Liverpool haven't won the league for 18 years and Utd have won it 10 times during that time speaks for itself.

in may 1975 we were the bomb.

.

It is quite amazing the variety of goals he scored.

Interestingly though, it looks like his penalties are quite predictable: if he stops in his run up he's putting it to the left, if he doesn't he's putting it to the right.

This could be just the thing for United, a very nice fee plus, it seems, Robinho.

Riggs, Neville and Scholes (at least) on the way out it could basically allow Fergy to buy at least 2 world class players, get one for free and adding in the PL and CL wins turn over a tidy profit.

trans: without the Fergie and Matt busby periods, you were nothing and won nothing.

You lot are worse than religious fundamentalists, seriously.

I have to say I'm surprised that wages are so much higher in the Spanish league, and considering wages over here are obscene, that's difficult to envision.

Are there a lot of billionaires funding Futbol Espanol?

Surely Italy, as well, pays megabucks?

I don't think the wages are higher. But one or two clubs are not scared to pay big bucks for top players.

In the case of Madrid it has become ludicrous. Then again they'll recoup the lot through merchandising, which seems to be the boardroom's top priority nowadays...

I watched the first 45 secs. It was like watching your 80 yr old pet tortoise hacked to death with an axe.:hmm:
I'll be glad to see him out of the united team.:D
Could be karma for the Rooney scalping of the bitters in a Wayne Feng Shui chi restoration flapping of the butterfly's wings:D

I bet if Rooney was still under Moyes he'd be as good as the ladyboy:p

There ain't half been some clever bastards

If Ronaldo does leave it would give the players left behind a incentive to play better to prove that manure are not a one man team....:D

Man Utd make official complaint to Fifa.

I've never quite understood this whole thing; what exactly is wrong in saying "we'd like this player"? Surely (almost) everyone would want Ronaldo in their squad.

I understand the problem with a club meeting with a player behind his club's back, but what's wrong with simply saying they'd like to sign him?

Total hypocrisy on Ferguson's part. He tapped up Hargreaves for over a year - not to mention players like Carrick where their dealings weren't exactly out in the open. It's ManU's god complex again - we can tap up players from other teams, but god help you if you try it on us.

After the win over the Czechs Ronaldo was apparently quoted as saying 'I just love playing in all white'. Adios.

Still don't think he will go....reckon he is after more money and too be fair think he deserves it....we shall see but don't reckon he will leave whilst Fergie is there...

Heh, the hopeful delusions of some. He'll go, it's just whether Real can back up their mouth and agree the deal. Best case scenario for you is that he'll stay for another season, whingeing and looking over his shoulder throughout.

what about liverpool tapping up gareth barry? or had that one passed you by?

Villa are pretty pissed about it, but not making an official complaint to FIFA. They are just resigned to losing him [from the manager's statement}. That's the difference between other clubs and ManU.

i was actually talking about your own hypocrisy in highlighting Ferguson's hypocrisy, you don't seem to have any problem with Liverpool tapping up players, or is that alright in your eyes?

I recognise that it is a fact that players, if good enough, will be approached by other clubs. ManU, having done this themselves to other clubs, now report a club that approaches their player to FIFA. That's hypocrisy.

How am I a hypocrite just for pointing out the hypocrisy of the "great" ManU management? How many other clubs are running to FIFA about their players being spoken to? I haven't seen any reported.

I'm just wondering what is so patently wrong about a prospective employer letting themselves known to someone that they would be interesting in taking them on. In any other business it's considered perfectly reasonable.

i am not disputing that united have a track record when it comes to tapping up players that they want, or that Ferguson is being hypocritical in making such a big deal about it, are you saying that as long as you don't go crying to FIFA when it happens to your own players, then it is acceptable to tap up other clubs players players?

Nothing wrong with it at all. They just need to agree a fee with the players club first.

Otherwise they be sneaky cunts.
