Ronaldo: Ferguson's tactics were shit

Forget the tactics (such as they were) - United's run of luck in the European Cup/Champs Lg final was bound to end sometime. Their last 2 wins were only achieved by a shattering last-gasp comeback against Bayern and John Terry's missed pen last season - on both occasions, United had been the inferior team. But thankfully last night justice was done and the superior team were so superior in every way that Fergie and his boys knew there could be no repeat of their previous nights of European 'glory' when they so undeservedly triumphed.

This is a joke right?

but why were they the better team? Or is it just not fair to ask that?

No, Barca are just better at passing the ball around and keeping possession. It was embarrassing how easily they passed round Man U. And for so many long periods. Even when Man U finally got the ball they usually lost it moments later, leading to yet another period of possession for Barca.

This is a joke right?

No. Imho it's true- Bayern were the better team on the whole and any time a team wins on pens its more pot luck than anything else.

However, as much as I think Sir Alex is a twat you cant argue with his record.

Just met a better team on the night, I reckon Barca would have won whoever they were playing.

No. To quote Benitez - 'facts!' :D

So basically Utd have been lucky in the last 2 years of champions league football, Utd were the inferior team against Chelsea last year, and were lucky in the final in 99?

what about all the other trophies they've won in the past 20 years?

is that luck too?

No. To quote Benitez - 'facts!' :D

No the 'facts' are than Man Utd have won 2 European Cups under Fergie. Everything else is irrelevant and your opinion. Yes we were outplayed by Bayern. When we scored the second goal...did I care - no, would you have cared - doubt it.

Football is pretty simple - I don't believe in deserving - the team who scores more goals deserves to win. Bayern didn't kill us off, tough.

My point is losing one final doesn't make a manager naive and shit.

IMO Furguson got his selection wrong, but 1 mistake doesn't mean he's a shit manager

even the harshest critics haven't said he was naive or shit. but he did lack the abilities to introduce a change that might[ have made the difference. He's obviously the best manager in the premiership, but given his dominance there, he really should have been dong better in europe than he has.

So, not shit, but not genius either. And last night he was well and truly rumbled, and his team outclassed.

Against Bayern Munich, Man Utd were the worst side. It was just one of those days for Bayern. It happens.

Chelsea v Man Utd was just a shit game with two teams cancelling each other out. I don't think either side bossed it.

It was pretty close in patches last night - but when it mattered to coin a phrase that Evra likes, it was men against boys.

.

Why is it crap that Hiddink would have given Barca a better match? Hiddink, in fact, DID give Barca TWO better matches. Including at their place!

No you're right, I wouldn't have cared. And actually, believe it or not, I wanted United to win on both occasions. But all I'm saying is that United had last night coming to them - they weren't going to scrape another win out like they've done before.

I think that's what I mean though, I don't really take the had it coming to them thing. CL final in 1999 was one game, last year was a different game, this year different again, I don't see and overiding tactical or fate driven link. We eased past Barca last year, and Arsenal in the Semi's this year. Nothing was suggesting we would be so outplayed last night. Fact is we never looked in the game, so doing what we did in 1999 or even last year never seemed on. All in all it looked comfortable for Barca.

I don't agree with this.

You looked like you would piss it in the first 10 minutes. But under a little bit of pressure some players cracked. Anderson, Vidic, Van Der Sar...

That is a fact!

so is the fact that Chelsea dicked you at home hence you went out....

though by the sh*t flying around today anyone would have thought all manner of English teams had won the champions league, the premiership everything else really...

The streets of Rome have some unsavoury sights this morning:

and btw, CL finals shouldn't be played in stadiums with a running track.

From the subs bench?

I told you about your counting before . . .

I knew what you meant.

Also, bring back the old shot put thing by the goal. Trevor Francis shoulder etc*.

* for those of a certain age or for those who liked football before 1992.

I don't think anyone could say that the first goal had to go to Barcelona. But after that Barca played their lead brilliantly. They didn't start piling men behind the ball, allowing Utd to come at them. Rather, they played a possession game over the full length of the pitch. It was brilliantly played, tbh I don't know whether there is a tactical answer to that.

....and that Liverpool dicked you at home and showed the World what Manchester United are - FLAT TRACK BULLIES!

:p

Flat track bullies??? what is that meant to mean....sounds like something a 8 year old spurs fans would come out with as they cry at another defeat

We all know Utd are sh*t, when they win they are lucky, refs cheat, or simply buy it...

when they lose they are just sh*t, the players they buy are sh*t ( which kinda goes against the argument when they are winning ), Fergie knows nothing etc etc....

fact of the matter is that we won the league...we are the best team in England...yup we got beat last night though such is life...one off game and all...

You keep clinging to a win that in the greater scheme of things is totally irrelevant and someone else winning Europe...

Remind me what you have won in the past 3 years....:D

Barca's Midfield won it last night, Man Utd couldn't deal with them. It matters not if Fergie f**ked up his tactics or not, if you can't get the ball you can't play.

The FCB midfield were outstanding.

But as I said, domestically, his main tactic, when things aren't going well, is to throw another £30 million or £50 million on the pitch and have that sort the problem. Which worksd fine against 17-18 of the clubs he faces who don't have the cash sitting on the bench as well as the pitch.

.
tbh, spurs have tried to spend, spend, spend their way forward and out of trouble, without anywhere near the level of success Man Utd have had.

The truth is, barca are the world's best team and simply outplayed them.
