ive never been ....but the photos look

i always get extra excited about going somewhere ive never been...:-)

You'll love it

Oh yeah, those Vespa riders (hordes of em), make sure that you take a bag that can't have the strap easily snipped and where you can carry it crosswise across your body - there was a phase a few years ago (don't know if it's still going on) where bags used to be dragged off shoulders/cut off by passing Vespa riding y00t

Don't surprise me ...

Good plan

Vespa is Italian for wasp - and that's just what the hordes of fekkers are like  :D

I have a secret pocket in my slacks. You caqn put your wedge in there alongside mine if you like. Your tabs should be safe under the sleeve of my t-shirt but not when we go to The Vatican. It's a tricky one. You can keep them in your socks underneath your trousers. I won't be doing that because I hate the feeling of the square cardboard against my ankles.
I can't fucking wait to go now though.
Do you want to come cesare ?

Aw! : /

It just can't happen cesare. I never thought it through I was posting so furiously.
If I go there with two sorts it'll definitely kick off. The wrongun local blokes will eye the pair of you up in front of me and they won't even care that one of you might be my missus .. say for example I was holding hands with Mighty they'd still eye her up as well as you.
I'm not fucking having that so I'm sorry.
We can go another time and that's it
Ok!

Swiss Guard at St Peter's:

The best bit was sauntering past the Swiss Guards on that gate when on my way to visit the Necropolis and excavations, waving a stiff envelope with the papal keys on the back.

The rubber-necking tourists in the Piazza were convinced I must be a VIP going for a personal audience with the Pope.

Vatican dress code

Short sleeved dresses are OK, but the slightest hint of a bare shoulder or a knee is still regarded as sinful flesh...

someone else told me a while back about pickpockets there and how bad they are ....

i will kick someones ass if they try and take my dosh ....

im not hearing very good things so far :( :p...(kidding)

Go there to see the Vatican Museum. The wealth is incredible, over the top. It's the place you go to see the plunder that the catholic church has collected from around the world.

OMG, Rome! My 2nd favourite city.

It's worth the queue to see the Sistine Chapel. I know people say go early, but then I find everyone goes early and it's stupid. Go late!

St Peters is like, wow!

We make a point to go to EUR, and have a meal in the restaurant on the lake.

Don't bother with Rome's metro, it's shit. The buses are much better.

If you only go to one place, go to the Trevi Fountain. It's fucking awesome.

Don't bother with the Spanish Steps..

Rome is like Amsterdam, very walkable.

First time we went to Rome, I hunted high and low for a HUGE stone foot. Never did find it, but stumbled across a shop selling religious garb. I thought it would be great fun for my husband to buy some priests robes, but he was mean and wouldn't. Thought they wouldn't sell them to him! He didn't even ask
