Rolf Harris paints the Queen

Since I've been here, I noticed that this "class structure" you keep talking about is almost like some type of barrier and it seems to be part of your culture. This is purely my own opinion and is based solely on my interpretation of the posts, but we don't seem to have the same social barriers or prejudges that you have.

it is largely moribund and has like everywhere else been replaced by simple wealth inequaltiy, though some people don't want to accept this and try to romanticise their current position of relative low wealth as a terrible injustice which cannot be overcome without political alterations.

The Queen is essentially a celebrity like any other, a bit more rich and famous than some, not as much as others. The fact that we have to pay taxes to this celelb irks a few of us and I'm certainly not keen on supporting this institution. Personally I think if the awe-struck really want a monarchy they can pay for it and the rest of us should be able to opt-out. If people want to meet them and get all excited fine, but it is the same as meeting Beckham.

the royal family is expensive and undemocratic - fuck the queen and her inbred family. It makes me sick when i see people on their knees, bowing, doffing caps to someone who was born into privelege. Head of state should be there on merit not because of some outmoded tradition.

I think the whole Queen thing is ridiculous... her entourage and flunkeys would put any rap artist to shame, and the amount of bling is just way over the top too with the crowns and stuff... I mean, she has something like three people to follow her around on walks to help her sit down on a bench!

Not even Mariah Carey in her wildest showbiz demands has anything like that. And when it comes down to it, let's face it, the Queen hasn't ever had a top 40 hit, let alone a number one. Mariah's prettier too.
