Rock / Metal - help needed

That zombie thread has reminded me: Send More Paramedics - Zombie Crew for group chant thrash goodness. The kids in the know will love it.

it wasn't me recommending them?

i was just saying, the metal kids round here don't seem to be too keen. on account of them not being metal, i expect...

They played Download last year. I liked them, so did plenty of others. Although I have to say I dont think I've ever seen anyone as out of it as their singer. There were 5 of us, we were all speechless :D

FWIW, there was a band that filled the second tent on the Sunday mid-afternoon that seemed to be immensely popular called Unearth. That was the biggest mosh-pit any of US had ever seen. Don't know if it would be worth checking out any of their stuff?

And one of the most popular bands the year before was the Prodigy... :)

Out of it? Are we still talking about Gallows? Frank is straight edge.

Yes, still Gallows. Maybe it's just the way he came across? Either way, I enjoyed the show, so did everyone around me. In fact, our group had a very good festival last year, every one of us. Every band we set out to see, thought we'd have a look at or stumbled across were great. If we do half as well this year I'll be pleased.

I can see how he'd come across like that, the massive stare-y eyes and bulging neck veins. He just gets super psyched to be playing live, all the time. His energy is unreal.

Striborg

failing that try and get some of the new wave of thrash that's around, such as Warbringer, Evile, Municipal Waste, SSS, Bonded By Blood

oh and Exodus, Testament, Death Angel, Sodom and Voivod amongst others are still around and doing well

pity Celtic Frost had to throw their fucking handbags out of the pram though

Metal fans are not known for their refined and sophisticated sense of taste.

But I'm not just a metal fan. I like a wide range of music, but your choices are

I can happily listen to Slipknot, opera especially some of Figaro, Bill Haley and Dusty Springfield within 20 minutes. I do, on my MP3 player.

Bit of old Ministry, NIN, ACDC, Foos, Metallica, Sepultura, Fear Factory, Motorhead, Korn

Kerrang have a radio station too i believe

does anyone else get embarrassed when they listen to metal on their iPod?

i was blasting out some old Iron Maiden - the clairvoyant to be precise - and had to turn it off.

kinda felt cheesy and childish.

i beat this natural reaction by going one step further in the cheesy direction but 3 steps further away from giving a fuck:

Stratovarious, Dragonforce, Turisas.

oh yes.

I listened to both when I were a young man.

In fact, with all the crossover between punk and metal into hardcore and emo etc etc I would say there is even less of a barrier.

They're self proclaimed punk. Their sound is hardcore punk, picking up where Refused left off imo.

ha ha ha, lets be really sad taxamo and point out that hardocre punk is different from hardcore and that gallows are the latter the crowd will love that :D
