Robin Hood new series

If that lot in the piccies are anything to go by, they've never seen a boil or any muck in their lives!

They don't look like they could fight their way out of a wet paper bag. :D

I've got a 78 of the theme tune for the original TV series...and did you know that a lot of the scriptwriters were Americans who were blacklisted by the Un-American Activities witch hunt lot?

Do you think it'll be repeated? I'm going to miss it :( I still feel as if I'm being strangely unfaithful to Michael Praed by even thinking about watching it :o

eta - repeated on bbc 3 tomorrow. I'll watch it whilst eating my roast beef :)

Is that the 'Robin Hood, Robin Hood, riding through the glen....' one?

Not impressed so far. Robin of Sherwood was much better; this is far too american, all action nonsense. Maybe it will improve, but i'd much rather listen to Clannad than this OTT cheesy orchestral score.

Or even Bryan Adams.

I thought it was alright, better than most of the shit that's on on a saturday night.

good panto villain, lots of action. everyone's a bit clean but hey, what do you want?

and it's designed for kids and families isn't it?

thumbs up from me. :)

So was Robin of Sherwood and that had some really dark shit in it (in that Dr Who styee) for the saturday teatime slot.

Well...

it was OK, amusing in places. Not sure about use of language like 'yippee' & so on. Keith Allen was a bit funny--but surely (a la Alan Rickman) you want Sherriff to be slightly threatening? Rather ahistorical & slight--far prefer the KIngdom of Heaven...

that was the biggest pile of cock i've seen on telly for a long while if u excuse the easy targets like reality tv, etc. watched about 20 mins before turning off. utter bollox

nah i like it, it takes no energy and its a bit different. just dont have too high expectations. some bits are funny.

Didn't think it was up to much. Shame. I've always liked the Robin Hood legend and enjoyed Robin of Sherwood back then.I'll probably give it another chance.

I like it too! Enjoyed that last night. I do have a huge crush on Paul Bettany though and he is particularly yummy in this film. :o

I am not sure about the new Robin prog/. yet....will give it another go n see.

Yup...the most hilarious line is "They handled all the troubles on the English country scene and still found plenty of time to sing!"

Obligatory pedantic nitpick: Would Nottingham's streets really have been paved that early?

come on! that's the least of their worries!

it's hardly historically accurate is it? :D

Bit of politics in it - pointed reference to expensive wars in remote parts, authoritarian government, regressive taxation and destruction of small traders.
Some PC references to superior Eastern science and technology as with Morgan Freeman in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.
The swash buckling bits were suitably tongue in cheek and ludicrous.
Accents were all over the place!
It was a bit clean - reminded me in costume and setting of Branagh's Much Ado. Middle-ages-lite. But then it made itself quite clear that it wasn't meant to be taken entirely seriously.
Looking forward to meeting Little John, Friar Tuck, Prince John et al.:)
