Rob Styles once again shows why he shouldn't be allowed to officiate

'The public' (as opposed to football fans) are interested in the soap opera constructed for them by the media rather than the game itself unfortunately

I suppose it does develop a human interest dimension which, in turn appeals to a wider audience that does the quality of Mourinho's in play tactical choices.

So now the emphasis is the fallen-from-grace personality 'will Styles return to top flight reffing . . . next week !! Watch this space - and an awful lot more will want to read about that than injury worries for the weekend's games.

This is starting to sound like a very bad footie chant actually.

Fwiw, Styles did have a very poor game compared to Clattenburg in the prior Manc derby. Whereas Styles piled in with his first caution after ~10 mins, Clattenburg resisted the howling hordes from the terraces in a similar situation, pointed out Brown's 2 fouls and made it clear he would tolerate no more.

However, more importantly, he gave himself room for manoeuvre in the heat of a Manchester derby game and i thought handled the match with authority and intelligence. Styles looked out of control and out of his depth throughout, too easily intimidated and slightly scared about it all.

Tell you what, Paulie, my English has disintegrated since I moved here. As I'm busy forgetting all my French, pretty soon I'll be incoherent in three languages.

I doubt if they would agree on who had cheated and when.

Ronaldo reportedly refused to apologise for the headbutt, after all.

they should be punished afterwards by some kind of panel the same as for violent conduct, the standard of refereeing doesn't seem very high but the refs are in an impossible situation with all of the cheating and mind games being played by the managers through the media and the rank hypocricy of players who dive around all over the pitch and then whine like spoiled bastards when they are on the recieving end

i genuinely haven't seen ronaldos head butt yet, was it a real one? i find it hard to believe it was considering he is, like most players today, such a fucking wimp

It didn't look very hard'n heavy - but he was stupid enough to do it right in front of the ref. According to Sir A. it was the other team's fault for provoking him - and the refs for not recognising him as a special "flair" player and treating him differently.

so it wasn't a head butt? it was only a few years ago that players used to push their heads against each others quite often,

if he was deliberately being provoked then the ref should have taken this into consideration when dealing with the incident, obviously asking for him to be treated differently is bollox though

Still looked like a headbutt to me - the fact that the other player stayed on his feet is irrelevant.

The so called provocation wasn't evident to me - I think it consisted of the other team daring to try to win.

Rob Styles is the worst referee of all time.

Again demonstrated by his calamitous decision yesterday.

Styles you cunt - just because a player falls down in the area, doesn't mean it's a fucking penalty! Nob end.

To be fair on first watch at full speed it looked like a pen and a sending off.

Especially as he was viewing from behind.

Thing is, this isn't the first time is it? I mean he's consistently shit. Unbelievably inept. I thought he was corrupt, now I know he's just shite.....

In Styles's defence, I support the addition of "undue use of power of the mind" to the rule book under possible fouls. We can't have shit like that in the top tier of professional football.

Respect the referee my fucking arse after what I've witnessed this weekend

Clueless bastards the lot of em, get em all replaced by robots I say, I couldn't give two shits if it slowed the game down, the only people who would complain about that are people who have only ever watched a match on Sky and wouldn't know the meaning of supporting a team if it kicked them in their fucking bollocks
