I've already told your "friend" to stop following me about. How do I report a post?

No need, the mods will be viewing this thread as soon as they see my 'reported post' message.

Can you please remember to close the door on your way out - thanks. :D

I have "reported" these agressive gays. They tried to take over my church but won't get away with it here, no sir.

Forum: Brixton Report Bad Post

mikeinworthing and friedaweed have made homosexual advances towards me and are now following me about. I have just been to church after problems with my other church which condoned homosexuality. Fortunately my new church is better (part of the African-Anglican split). I have asked for a Church Forum here. Please make these "gays" leave me alone. Thank you.

Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts.

Reports I have heard say that the picket at the Ritzy was the most polite in history! Good on the staff for following thru. However passing the cinema tonight at closing time it seemed staff were on hand - do I take it the strike failed? Any updates much appreciated.

Maybe they just had the strike while it was closed? Won't lose any pay that way.

From that BBC article:

In a statement City Screen said that from each £8 ticket sold, only £2.56 went to the cinema as profit.

A 32% profit margin! Not doing themselves any favours there..

I work in cinemas, it's mis-quoted a bit.

generally film distributors get the lions share of the ticket price. The £2.56 is the only bit that goes to the cinema, not their profit after paying rent, wages, bills etc.

on opening weekend etc a cinema will probably only get about 20% of the ticket price, this then increases as the film gets older.

I talked to the Ritzy staff and they didnt now that a half of the funding to build the new Ritzy with 5 screens came through a Brixton Challenge grant in the mid 80s.Brixton Challenge was set up as a regeneration project after the riots to.It was decided to focus on the "cultural" sector. The argument behind the Ritzy grant was that it could show a combination of art and popular films and not be just another multiplex.

I suppose its not surprising that this gets forgotten. With these regeneration schemes there is no obligation to keep to the justification for funding.(The Dogstar is an example).

Ive recently heard that Picture House cinemas is now owned by Arts Alliance-an investment portfolio that includes LoveFilm. That explains why they are plugging it at the Ritzy all the time.Whether Arts Alliance will keep the Ritzy as a cinema rather than a bog standard multplex/entertainment venue is up for question.
