Ritzy Screen 1: Ropey seats and dodgy heating

I've experienced rather cold temperature in the main screen room in the past. But yes, recently it has been hot. They don't seem to be hitting the right spot easily.

Incidentally, am I the only one who finds the the main screen seats fucking uncomfortable? They sag down a lot and it feels as if you need to keep propping yourself up to counter it.

I was there last night to see Bolt. I apologise for my b/f's family farting. They blamed my cooking. :o

I found the seats comfortable and the temperature fine.

Ritzy Screen 1: arghhhhhhhhhh.

Tried to endure Watchmen in screen 1 the other day... terrible film but more importantly, terrible place to watch a movie. The bottom of the seats slope down so they're incredibly uncomfortable to sit on for more than 5 minutes.
And the heating system has been broken in there for a while... it's always way too hot.

Now, I spoke to the manager. He said that City Screen ltd (who own the picturehouse cinemas) know all about the problems in screen 1 but are ignoring them because, rather than paying out to make viewing a film in there anything less than agony, they're about to invest a huge chunk of money in the Ritzy to turn the reception area into a restaurant and the bar into the reception. He seemed pretty irritated that City Screen were ignoring the compliants of staff and customers and don't seem interested in fixing the current problem.

So... [email protected]
Get emailing your complaints... obviously only do this if you actually use the cinema and agree that it's pretty uncomfortable and needs sorting.

Thanks.

The Ritzy's owners aren't exactly known for their dialogue with their customers. (Or their staff.) So if you don't get a reply from the enquiries email address try the PR manager Gabriel Swartland. [email protected].

You never know, he might actually give a monkey's about the Ritzy being pilloried on Urban.

And yes, the Screen 1 seats are rubbish. I find it best to sit in the front row so I can build a footstool out of coats and stretch out.

Yet more mod meddling!

I would never start a thread called "Ritzy Screen 1: Ropey seats and dodgy heating" and I object to having my name associated with such a title.

Firstly people will think that I was complaining about the heating which I was not, even though there are complaints to be made about the heating too.

Secondly, I described the seats as "ropey slopey" and if one of those adjectives needs to be culled in the name of Mod fascism then it should be "ropey" not "slopey" as the main point about the seats is that they are "slopey". Many cinema seats are "ropey" but specifically the Ritzy screen 1 seats are "slopey".

First they came for the thread titles....

I know it's been going on for a while now but I still find it unsettling when people use smilies.
""... I hear goggle in response etc etc etc.
It's just not right.

When I first moved to Brixton (over 10 years ago, I think), the Ritzy was closed for refurbishment. There were two seats on display in the library next door, you had to sit in them and vote for the most comfortable. So the people were consulted...

Nevertheless I would have to agree - they are slopey and uncomfortable.

Seeing as they hinge up anyway, i can't imagine it would be a massive job to adjust them all a bit so they are at a better angle.
