Risk Assessment

I'm with Mrs Magpie on this - much, much easier to do a risk assessment now there's clear guidelines - the numbers are merely a tool but a good and workable one, and it's a good deal more concrete and quantifiable to say 'on a scale of 1-4, we have assessed this risk to be 2 based on impact and probability' than effectively say 'it's a little bit risky, but not too much'.

Risks have to be identified and acknowledged and strategies put in place to minimise these risks, regardless of the situation.

I spit on Risk Assessments:mad:- but they do help me with my job to quantify and record but it is also a preverbial pain in the ass as well. I have already undertaken risk assessment on the 12 ft crimbo tree ive ordered for the foyer in readiness for the tenant twats upstairs with no bloody work to do.:D

Here is a handy link to 3 documents you will need. these are from our management system but I have removed all references to our company. You should be able to use the risk assessment form straight out of the box. The other 2 files are instructions.

Handy? What an understatement - that's incredibly useful, thanks. I've got risk assessment documents etc here (once I can access them, but that's another story) but no way of easily uploading them the way you did.

I've risk assessed this thread and its not looking too good.

This is risk in the context of project management, but I've always done risk assessments by probability and impact on a 5 point scale

Probability
5 = Probable
4 = Likely
3 = Possible
2 = Unlikely
1 = Nae chance

Impact
5 = Major negative consequences
4 = Severe negative consequences
3 = Substatial negative consequences
2 = Minor negative consequence
1 = Negligable negative consequences

Multiply the Impact by the Probability to get the risk on a scale of 1-25

1-5 - Risk can be ignored
5-10 - Risk can be managed
10 - 15 - Contingency should be drafted
15 - 20 - Contingency should be planned
20 - 25 - Contingency should be in place
