Pretty sure the paperwork EDF just sent me says they can put you on the tariff if you are prepaid meter but you get a rebate instead or something. I can look it up if you're interested Pip. You should automatically qualify if you're on certain benefits. I just rang up the number on the back of a late bill which said to tell them if disabled or certain benefits blah blah...

God, Scottish Power are such twats. I got it wrong anyway - they said they don't do a social tariff because they're so cheap rolleyes and that people on benefits aren't allowed anything but a prepaid meter.

Tbh I think I'll just phone consumer direct and get them to act on my behalf, because I reckon I'm being fed a lot of bullshit.

It's CareFree Plus. Are you on (or registered with) their CareFree Scheme? Don't think you're over 60 but there's also qualifying benefits. Dunno if they do a percentage of income spent on fuel thing like EDF. But yeah, they're chatting shit to you.

We're managing to survive in temperatures of less than 10° in most of the house whilst the boiler's buggered (government recommends between 18 - 21°). It's a bit nippy
