Rise festival Sunday 15th...

Saw Saint Etienne, who were good, but unfortunately played their song 'Lightning can strike twice' which I am sure caused the subsequent torrential downpour - leaving me running drenched to a cafe in Blackstock Road.

nuts, i wouldve loved to see the skatalites...and they're probably just finishing up now! bugger.

edit: whoops didn't see 2nd page.

Best bits: Jamelia, especially covering 'Crazy' she was the perfect act to see through the storm

Totally, I was really surprised how good she was and how many good pop songs she's got under her belt. I thought the Crazy cover got quite Floydy near the end. She could have left out the Sissor Sisters and John Legend covers though.

I left the Skatalites after a few songs in, just didn't feel any life in them. I'd have thought a group that have been going so long would have refined their act to a T but they were just standing there rattleing them off.

It was great... we didn't move from the Trojan Sound System bus all afternoon. Lovely company, great music... perfect stuff

Good day out despite the biblical downpour. Saw Jamelia, Kelis, Noisettes, the underamplified Shazia Mirza and Bill Bailey in the packed comedy tent.

Was worth going for just to see Beardyman

Nice festival.

Didn't really move from the Comedy tent and laughed my arse off.

True to form Bill Bailey was top quality, taking the piss out of the Killers 'I've got soul but I'm not a Soldier'.

'Could be anything, I've got ham but I'm not a hamster'

Wanted to go but waking up at midday to torrential rain and thunder and lighning put me off going north of the river. The thought of 100 k + people whiule spannered made me a bit  too!

So the weather didn't spoil it too much then?

The rain didn't last that long. It was heavy, but the sun was out again soon enough and we were able to sit down

That Trojan sound system was immense – we were stood a long way back and it was still really punchy.

We were just kicking off our radio show, giving a shoutout to all our friends going to Rise - then the heavens opened!

Hope you'se all dried out by now....

*jealous too* :(

But where I was (Guilfest) I saw an absolute highlight, Dub Pistols feat. Terry Hall -- superb ; and Madness always put on a great show too :)

And it rained less in Guildford :p

That was a brill festie. Trojan bus was indeed excellent.

And we were right at the front for Jamelia - she was ace! Even though it was like being in a power shower with all your clothes on, the crowd were in fantastic spirits.

What a festie. Top atmosphere, lots of unity, love and diversity.

(((London))) <----(an 'i love london' hug)
