    Noooooo!!! :-(
although I use foobar now, I loved winamp
Used to record mixes using three instances of winamp running at the same time.
I learnt how to shoutcast a TV channel which could only have one viewer at a time due to my bandwidth :D
The fantastic visual plugins  milkdrop especially
Such a great piece of software.

Well, can't say I'll miss them, after the WinAmp 3 complete failure, I've moved on to Foobar and never looked back since. That said, WinAmp 2 was the best player around for the time. It's both sad and surprising it managed to hang on for so long, and considering how almost everyone used it back in the day, they could have really turned into itunes if AOL played their cards better.

Yes, I liked Winamp too. But that seemed an age ago.

Shit. I still use Winamp. It's one of the most accessible players there's been for me. VLC gets used for video files but Winamp's my desktop music player.

The Winamp Android app is pretty decent, use it all the time.

That's annoying. It is my primary player as I like the sell integration.

Annoying. I use WinAmp every day and have just started using the Android app as well.

I used Foobar in the past but preferred WinAmp. Might give it another bash.

Not used it since ditching Windows, but used to use it constantly, back in the day. RIP Winamp :(

A shame AVS died, but Milkdrop is very good.

Better than anything else available on TV a lot of the time.

    MediaMonkey has MilkDrop apparently.

The beauty of Foobar is that you can use it as a straightforward, barebones audio player, or as a full fledged media player with libraries, search mp3 tags and the like. Some stuff requires scripting and additional components, but almost everything I wanted it do, I've managed

Media monkey is a beast though.
I'm trying to like it for the future, but it's so far defeated me.

I remember using Winamp about ten years ago - I'd forgotten about it and didn't know it was still going. Sad to see it go as I remember it being decent.

Oh no, not the end of Winamp. 1997 just paged me with the news.

Winamp with the modern skin on it is as good a media player as any.
VLC works well, but is a bit minimal.
I listen to Shoutcast radio all the time.

Winamp may have been overtaken by more modern offerings, but it was certainly a trail blazer in its day. And more importantly, it's not iTunes. That last virtue, if nothing else, ensures I'll always look back on it fondly.
