RIP Rick Parfitt

SQ always made me laugh, like htey weere taking the piss, sense of humour, anyone know what im on about?

So Rick dies and it warrants a mintute or two on the radio, George M. dies and it's wall to wall coverage across most of the stations this morning
Rick was worth more than that.
Quo always put on a good gig at Hammersmith Odeon but, sadly never came across that well in a live album, was it Bingley Hall? Never came close to Live at Leeds.

Live at the Glasgow Apollo was the one I remember people having. I haven't heard it in decades (never owned a copy either) but I'm sure it was well regarded by fans at the time.

(I never saw Quo live, but I don't think I'd be putting them in the same category as the Who really. No disrespect meant: they were trying to achieve different things).

George is wall to wall on the Beeb this morning when Rick barely got a mention. Yes it's annoying me as well but I'm a 60s-70s kid & I guess most of the Beeb media types are 80s kids so I suppose George is more relevant to them. One could argue George was the bigger star & made more news but Quo have always been about so yes it did seem to me that Rick should have got more coverage.

Planet rock dedicated most of the afternoon to interviews and songs, along with fans memories and anecdotes of Rick. It was a lovely tribute to a lovely down to earth man.

R.I.P Mr Double denim,
I've had many good and happy times involving your music. You could guarantee to fill the dance floor when any of 'Quo's' riffs started :)

Weirdly, my dalliance with the Quo was almost the opposite - looking back it was almost entirely down to a shitty cassette of a live NEC gig broadcast on Tommy Vance's show that I liked. bought a few of the records but it was never as raw or rocking as that old tape
here's Rossi letting Alan and Rick do a bit of the singing from that show

heh, had a lucky escape from quo fandom/style exile but years later I left my family in the kids field and pottered over to sit up the hill leafing through the paper and nodding along to their Glastonbury set - like a proper dad :)

Definitely a talent in a great band. It didn't go unnoticed with me. RIP Rick, and respect to the fans who loved him.

First band i was in played ZZ Top and Quo covers mainly. We were called The Chaps (The Cathy Hytner Appreciation Society).
