RIP Phil O'Donnell

A black armband isn't really 'going overboard' is it?
Can we turn this back into a RIP Phil O'Donnel thread, rather than a 'who-gives-a-fuck-some-bloke-died-on-a-football-pitch' one?

RIP Uncle Phil.

I must admit I think its a bit overboard calling off matches at other clubs today!! Its like a guy working at M&S dying and everyone at Woolworths having the day off. Sure its very sad, but people die, get over it!

Well, I think the games that had been called off in the SPL were because some of the players or staff at the clubs that would've been playing, knew him in some way. Considering the way football is, it's not really suprising for many more clubs rather than just the one we played for to be affected by his death.

Considering also the nature of the death and the fact that happened in the middle of a game, it's not really that suprising either why this death has probably affected every football club and it's staff across the country in some way.

Did Scottish crowds pay tribute to Emlyn Hughes or Alan Ball?

Yes we did. And those games that were cancelled:

Celtic v Rangers - O'Donnell played for the 'Tic in the 90s, also players such as Scott McDonald and Lee McCulloch had played alongside him at Motherwell

Gretna v St Mirren - Due to SPL ground requirements, Gretna are groundsharing with Motherwell this season

And surely no one needs to have it pointed out why the Motherwell game was cancelled.

dublx, you're a bellend.

RIP Phil
