In photos: David Bowie fans gather in Brixton to celebrate what would have been his 72nd birthday, Tues 8th Jan 2019
We had our biggest ever Bowie party in Brixton on the weekend and raised over £1.500 for local charities. We had people of all ages there but it was interesting that so many young people came along this year. In photos: David Bowie celebration party at the Dogstar, Brixton, Fri 11th Jan 2019
So this was the "girl with the mousy hair" 'I inspired David Bowie's top hits then ditched him and broke his heart'
Three years after this piece, the allegations have suddenly resurfaced in the media ... David Bowie had sex with underage girls. Is that creepy or cool?
If so, you'll surely be able to produce an example of them resurfacing, rather than linking to a three year old piece by Julie Burchill
Yep, the Mail. It's cos David Baddiel has a Bowie podcast where he said he met a woman who Bowie tried to seduce when he was 40 and she was 16. Baddiel didn't say it as a shocking reveal, more just an anecdote about how promiscuous rock stars are with groupies. It's no secret! Tonight on BBC 2 at 9pm; David Bowie: Finding Fame. The third part in the Five Years trilogy of films. Although it was initially called The First Five Years, dunno why they changed the name.
They probably didn't want people to think "The First Five Years" was a reference to the age of his youngest sexual conquest.
Don't go there. You're fighting a losing battle. Apparently it's OK to abuse children if people like your songs. Gary Glitter was obviously not a good enough singer that people would turn a blind eye to his transgressions.
What's it to me? Strange question. I'm disturbed that people don't want to know about child abuse just cos it was perpetrated by someone they admire. Something like thst is everyone's business and not to be yawned at and dismissed
Gosh, has David Bowie just been revealed to have abused children? That's certainly going to come as a shock to the world of music. And no one had even an inkling until the Daily Mail broke the story today, forty something years later. Who says investigative journalism is dead?
People already know about it, I would be amazed if there is anyone posting regularly on Urban with the slightest interest in Bowie who didn't already know about it while he was still alive.
Do you also monitor the site for mentions of Emmeline Pankhurst, and leap in to remind people she shamed and bullied men, including the mentally and physically disabled, to go and die in the trenches? Or that Malcolm X was a pimp? Or that Mohammed Ali and Martin Luther King were serial adulterers? Or the same thing you mention about Bowie on the Led Zep, Jimi Hendrix and Stones mentions? Cos if you are gonna police the boards so diligently you don't wanna be a hypocrite do you?
