RIP Bobby Robson, England, Newcastle and Ipswich manager

Sadly, it was expected, but it's always sad to see someone so beloved go. Considering his role on Porto's fortunes since 1994, I expect the club to do something in his memory.

my mates band dedicated a song to mr robson tonight. and i poured a little liquor for my dead homie.

Not intensionally just cos i was clumsy:(

As an aside, there was an interesting mistranslation, or what I reckon was a mistranslation, by Capello.

he said "It was a real achievement to have managed England for so long".

he surely must have meant "It was a real achievement to have got England so far in a tournament", right?

Last night was incredible, the two minutes silence was impeccably observed, Ipswich won 3-1, the north stand were singing Bobby Robsons name all match, and afterwards a few people gathered at his statue opposite the Cobbold stand for a vigil.

And I'm going there again today, its a place I HAVE to be.

A sad day for football. I can remember having a chat with somebody who was involved with Ipswich during Sir Bobbys regin there and the genuine affection and warmth that they felt about the man has always stuck with me.

Then compare that with a horrible tale of what modern footballers are like, told to me last night by a friend who works for a magazine and who had to pay £300 to one supposed up and coming star just to have a photograph done for a charity event along with having a young girl along for the shoot harassed by this footballers entourage and it does make you wonder if the game is worth the time and effort anymore

I aint going to give up going because its just part of who I am but I dont think I want my kids to grow up being interested in supporting or being involved with proffessional football in anyway.

its quite mad i have yet to find someone who has a bad word to say about him in real life or on the internet.

even sunderland fans love him.

I reckon he should be sainted, thats a a miricle to that liked and respected.

dunno man can't be many england maangers who have lasted 8 whole years.

certainly no one since robson.

dave

Still, sven lasted six years and surely robson's achievement was how far he got us.

No merit in simple 'long service medals' unless you're Rimmer, and Capello wouldn't see it that way. I'm sure it must have been a mistranslation...

A pic I took yesterday, fills me up every time.

Loved the BBC show last night.

Great to see the bullying surplus journalist cunts outed. The Daily Mirror and the Sun were relentless in their bullying of Sir Bobby Robson.

Saying they would "fry" Robson if his England team failed to score.

I don't buy those newspapers, but should imagine they are full of hypocritical shite this weekend.

Very doubtful whether the journalists who wrote that shite will be missed at all when they die, even by their wives and children. Compare that to Sir Bobby Robson, who will be missed by folk that he didn't even meet.

Its sad that it doesn't surprise me those tabloid bastards wrote that stuff, total fuckwits that they're.

Peter Beardsley paid a very nice tribute to him on Radio 5 today and told a funny story about how he used to get the England players names mixed up all the time, especially at Mexico 86 when he came down to have breakfast one morning and said to Bryan Robson, "Morning Bobby"!

There was a story on talk/sport on friday saying , at one of his book signings this young lad went up to him and asked how many book signings he had done that week , and Bobby Robson said to him 'millions' and then he signed his book for him . When the young lad got home he looked at his book and he signed it , all the best from Bobby millions :D

Just been to St James' today and there was football shirts and scarfs from all over the world .......... shine on Bobby !

A friend of mine was in the Ipswich Cornhill watching the memorial service, he texted me and just put "moving, so moving, I'm still in tears".

That of course filled me up..........

RIP Bobby, I hope my mum is keeping you company up there.
