Ridley Scott's next film is Brave New World

I'm half way through it and quite enjoying it. Re-inforces the fact Leo would make a rubbish Bernard.

I said somewhere further back on the thread that the report i linked to from DS got it wrong. Other things i've read since then say he's playing John Savage, which is much more believable :)

Thom Yorke would make a good Bernard :D
Shame he's not an actor...

I'd prefer him as Tomykins. Arogant, self important, dull. Leo would be just the ticket.

LOL :D

No chance of that though as i think he's got some connection with the Huxleys. Think i read he's go the rights to the film of the book or something, so he's not going to cast himself as the arrogant one of the piece...

Ah haha! Sorry my brain trailed off.........a thinly diguised narrative on idealism and utopia. Not really much of a story, more his ideas on how things might be re-organised.

Quite like the Thomas Moore book in style. I liked Island's ideas, especially on the organisation of the family unit/children's custody.

Oh right, for a minute there I thought I'd missed something about that book that everybody else had spotted ages ago. Yeah, it's pretty much a succession of people walking around explaining to some outsider how great their society is; a tricky one to film I guess.

Still a good book though, some very interesting ideas and an all-too-realisitic ending :(

Was discussing BNW with a friend only the other day. If done well it could be profound for our times. If they throw money at it however I can't see it leaving a lasting impression.

Andrew Nicholls to do the screenplay. Shame he's not directing as well.

It's not about the money thrown, it's about the money caught. Hopefully it'll be caught by good script writers, good actors, good artists etc, a good director (Ridley Scott?)

Mind you, it's too bad Kubric's dead.

i like ridley scott's films.

he does have a habit of pissing on his chips when there's an adaptation from a novel involved.

i dunno about this - another film about a dystopian society.
just seems to be done one too many times.

will watch it cos i like the book.

Actually it's a Utopia. Although it all depends what way you look at it. But 1984 it is not. Now that's dystopian and scary.
