Fuck... they kept that quiet during all the latest reunion rumours. Although I remember Gilmour saying half the reason he wanted to reform was for Rick's sake, so maybe that was a hint.

For what it's worth, he was a great keyboard player, really inventive and probably the best thing about them in the 70s.

Crap. After Barrett, he's my favourite 'Floyd member. Very talented, shaped a lot of their sound in both their psychedelic and prog phase, while most people bang on either the guitar musos or the war torn Moai, and forget what amazing musicians Mason and Wright were.

My God. I've always liked Rick, as he struck me as a laid back kinda fella. He always said the nicest things about Syd too and loved him (well, they all did).
Saw him playing with Floyd at the Barbican last year, they played Arnold Layne and were absolutely tremendous.

I am really sad about this.

He briefly reformed for a three-man Floyd lineup with Dave Gilmour and Nick Mason at Syd Barretts tribute gig at the Barbican in May last year. They just played Arnold Layne, Floyds first single. It just stopped forth of a full reunion, as Roger waters played alone afterwards. All the performers including Damon Albarn, Chrisse Hynde, and Roger Waters did a finale with 'Bike' at the end.

"I know. What did he die of?" (getting irritated)
"Important information witheld from me...!"

I gave up after that, figured we'd discuss it sensibly when he got home
